Midwest World Series Inspires Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation Fundraiser

The Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation’s (IICF) Midwest Division has launched a World Series-related fundraising effort benefitting regional Community Grants Programs.

With World Series excitement mounting throughout the Midwest and beyond, and reaching a fever pitch in Chicago and Cleveland, IICF Midwest Division board members have stepped up to the plate in a friendly competition to raise funds and help support those in need in their local communities.

Members of the IICF Midwest board of directors, based in Chicago, and the Cleveland-based Ohio Chapter board of directors are making major league contributions to the IICF Midwest Division as their hometown teams, the Chicago Cubs and the Cleveland Indians – two giants of Midwestern baseball – compete in this historic World Series.

All proceeds will benefit the winning board’s Community Grants Program, with funds allocated to the Midwest Community Grants Program with a Cubs victory or to the Ohio Chapter Community Grants Program should the Indians prevail.

“People throughout the entire Midwest are beyond excited about this World Series, with its matchup of two teams who’ve represented the baseball hopes and dreams of fans in our region for generations. With our friends, neighbors and colleagues rooting for one team or the other, it was a natural next step to capitalize on the friendly competition and generate funds to help those in need,” explained Mary Cummins, IICF executive director Midwest Division. “We are so thankful for the generous support of our board members, and for their enthusiastic and creative fundraising on behalf of the IICF Community Grants Programs, and as we all have some fun cheering on our teams.”

As a national nonprofit organization, IICF is dedicated to helping local communities and enriching lives by uniting the collective strengths of the insurance industry to provide grants, volunteer service and leadership. Since 2011, the IICF Midwest Division has awarded more than $1.7 million in grants to community nonprofits across the Midwest working in the areas of health, safety and education, including $110,000 in funding to Ohio nonprofits since the inception of its own IICF Ohio Chapter in 2013.
