A.M. Best Cancels, Reschedules Annual E-Fusion Information & Technology Conference September 21, 20

September 21, 2001

A.M. Best Co. announced that its conference, “E-Fusion: Finding the E-Payoff,” originally set for Oct. 21 to 23, 2001, has been rescheduled. The new date is Sept. 29 to Oct. 1, 2002, at the J.W. Marriott hotel in Washington, D.C., which is the same location.

“Following last week’s horrific events, we received many calls from registrants and participants,” stated event Chairman Paul C. Tinnirello, an executive vice president at A.M. Best Company. “Because so many registrants are involved in their company’s efforts to deal with the insurance impact of these events, and because of the problems with domestic and international travel, we decided to reschedule the event.”

A.M. Best is offering registrants the opportunity to preserve their place at the 2002 event. Maintaining their registration will guarantee admission to the 2002 event. Those who choose to cancel will receive a refund.

“A.M. Best Company made this announcement as early as possible in order to remain outside the 30-day window on travel arrangements,” Tinnirello said. “We wanted to lessen any impact on those who plan to travel to the conference.”

This year’s E-Fusion conference was scheduled to be A.M. Best’s 14th annual Insurance and Technology event. In 2000, admission to the E-Fusion conference reached capacity two weeks prior to the event, and the earliest registrations for the 2001 event had surpassed the pace of registrations for the 2000 event. The conference focuses on issues of e-commerce, Internet communications and best practices by insurers in reducing costs and increasing revenues through innovative uses of technology.
