William Pollard, executive vice president and general manager of the North Carolina Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company and 2003 chairman of the Board of Governors of the National Association of Independent Insurers’ (NAII) was re-elected chairman of the NAII Board at the association’s Annual Meeting in Atlanta this week.
Pollard began his career with the North Carolina Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company in 1969 as a personal lines underwriter manager and became executive vice president and general manager in 1989.
He is active in many organizations serving as past chairman of the North Carolina Rate Bureau, North Carolina Beach Plan/Fair Plan and as past president of the Conference of Casualty of Insurance Companies and the North Carolina Insurance News Service. He is designated in the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters (CPCU).
Harvey Pierce, chairman and CEO of American Family Insurance Group of Companies was elected first vice chair.
Pierce began his career with American family in 1963 as an agent in Minnesota. He held various positions within American Family, including district sales manager, state director, regional vice president and executive vice president of field operations. He assumed the position of president and COO in January, 1990 and served in that role for nine years before being elected chairman and CEO.
Pollard was re-elected to ensure continuity in the ongoing merger negotiations with the Alliance of American Insurers.

-William Noll, president, GMAC Insurance Group;
-Catherine Rein, president and chief executive officer, MetLife Auto & Home Group;
-Michael Keyes, president and chief executive officer, Oregon Mutual Insurance Company;
-Gerald Stephens, chairman of the board, RLI Insurance Company; and
-Anthony Warren, president and chief executive officer, West Bend Mutual Insurance Company.
