Travelers has just one of the many products out there to help insure Green Projects. To learn more about Green Insurance consider attending a workshop at IIABNY’s Capital Event. This unique workshop is not just for “tree huggers,” but is designed for producers of both commercial and personal
insurance interested in capitalizing on the ‘green’ movement and growing their book of business in this softening market. As our mainstream society becomes more aware of the value of ‘green’ it will become a common insurance need.
Go to http://www.iiabny.org and click on “Capital Event” to find out more.

Just like the Hybred auto discount, there is no data to support a discount for a Hybred boat. In fact they may find they have to surcharge them as the cost to repair will probably be higher than a conventional powered boat. It is just another “we care” touchy feely marketing ploy.

    Who is making Hybrid Boats?
I have never seen or heard of one, except through Travelers.
It does certainly seem like a Non Issue.
    Big Deal??
Give a discount for Good Drivers of Boats or a Multi Policy Discount-Across the Board.

This is “hybrid liberal hype” stupidity! Electrical added to vessels especially in salt water will actually accelerate corrosion problems not only to the vessel itself, but also to nearby vessels and piers which lead to more costly repairs, replacement parts, and environmental discharge into waterways.

The hauling out of these vessels for repair will then too burn more fossil fuels.

Secondly, if fuel prices actually go down for this, more people will be able to buy bigger boats which generate more fuel consumption (when not running under electrical power), eliminating or perhaps exceeding proposed global fuel savings.

Under electrical power, yacht size vessels move very, very slowly, and only for as long as the batteries last. Any vessel moving at faster speed and/or under load will have to burn fossil fuel.

Oh, did I mention that the electrical charge given will be majority sourced from fossil fuels(with a small pittance from other sources)?!

If you have a sailboat with a small outboard engine, isn’t that already a hybrid?

What if I put a windmill on the bow?

I love anyone who brushes off the “green” movement as liberal BS. Whether it is or not, its a big trend among consumers, so I’m going to get out in front of it and make some real green dollars while you scoff at the science of it.

I love it! Keep dismissing it while I go out an write all of the policies for these “liberals”!
