Std’s are taking all our business….the # of wholesalers in 2010 vs 1994 is astronomical. No way to feed everyone. Plus std carriers are now opening their own wholesale divisions. Same is happening in retail with the Brown n Brown’s; and bank owned agencies…now Marsh Agency gobbling them up. The whole industry is nothing like it was 20-30 years ago. There is no “6 year business cycle” that agent or insured can wait out. Relationships are a minor part now(unless it is gov’ment bidness, then its not what ya know, but who ya know.
This is not the beginning of a super wholesaler trend. Amwins was just being opportunistic, as Colemont was in horrible financial shape.
Here we again…the age of the super-brokers are back.
How long will this last until they start breaking them again?
