Hiring about half those that they fired last year because they have service problems. Carriers are still looking to cut costs.

Did Rahm Emanuel write this article?

If HALF of this is true, it is encouraging news…and about time. As Sally stated the company service had slipped from BAD to AWFUL.

We’re out here, HR. Pick up the phone, call us in for an interview, get past the grey hair and give us the opportunity to make your company shine.

It is hard getting past HR to interview with the hiring manager for some unknown reason. I think they use some kind of check list that they don’t quite understand. Many have the education, experience, loyalty, and the grey hair to prove it (although a teenager gives you grey hair when you are 39). I was eliminated once because I made too much money on my last job. The HR office dismissed me when they insisted that I disclose my last salary. I did and was dismissed immediately even though I told them that their salary range was quite acceptable. Maybe if we clip $5,000 in cash to the application? Any other ideas?

After the initial phone interview, the HR person may ask, “Do you have any questions for me?”

Ask the person, “Yes, I sure do. When is the last time ABC Carrier hired an applicant over 50?”

    Kiss of death!

Please understand where the article came from: Great Insurance Jobs – a place that NEEDS lots of candidates to make them look good. I personally don’t know any of insurance hiring. I think the whole “white-paper” is baloney.

When I talk to my friends in the business, I hear that their office is laying off, putting off replacing people,
volumn way down, losing business, dreadful market. When I talk to prospective employers, they are doing terrific, volumn is holding steady –maybe even a teeny bit up this year, looking to grow. It’s like two worlds out there.

I have been trying to get back into the Travelers and due to credit history it has been impossible. I have 15 year experience with that company and they need help and won’t allow me an interview why. I have a lot of experience to offer not only committment but experience and loyalty. Please forward this to their HR personnel. I can’t find a decent paying job in the insurance industry. Please help. Lossie Mc Crorey. Employed in there Harford office for years. Willing to leavce Wilmington and relocate to Charlotte.

In my experience, “qualified and quality candidates are still difficult to find” translates from employerspeak into English as “people aren’t accepting our low-ball offers.”

I work for the Los Angeles branch of Insurance Overload Staffing, and our job orders have increased recently, but we have also seen several job orders get canceled. Employers realize that they can survive with existing staff and don’t need to spend more money. It’s always frustrating when we get excited to present qualified candidates for great positions, and the jobs are canceled.

If hiring is picking up, Insurance Overload Staffing can help overwhelmed HR Managers by sifting through the thousands of resumes and doing the screening for them.

I also think those afraid of age discrimination would benefit from signing up with IOS. When we present resumes to our clients, they have no idea how old our candidates are. If a client is looking for temporary help, experience and knowledge are needed, and medical insurance costs don’t have to be a consideration, because IOS covers that.

Kiss of death – 46, single mother with 20+ years experience as a property adjuster. Ex spouse ruined credit and I can’t get past HR. How does anyone expect us to improve our credit if we can’t get a job?? Some of really want to work, but it seems there is a prevailing ‘conspiracy’ of sorts to keep us out of work. Democrats seem to like keeping people out of work – the higher unemployment is, the more likely they will be re-elected. I receive no government benefits and will NOT (and did not) vote for the current ‘leadership’ and I use that word in a most sarcastic manner.

Obama, Clinton, Bush. Whatever. Reagan was the last good president we had. The majority of this country is neither far left nor far right. The current administration is basically encouraging people not to work. Why? Because it almost guarantees they will get re-elected. Power, corruption, greed – will bring an abrupt end to the American Dream. For those of us that actually want to work – in order to provide for our families and improve our credit scores – it should be illegal to use credit as a basis for employment. How would one go about improving their credit without a job? We need less government, more compassion, we are the United States of America – when we sneeze, the world gets the flu. We need to be more responsible and use common sense as citizens and as a country. Period.

It hasn’t been rosy for some time. Maybe since 2001-2002 when we went into such drastic debt with our wars.

Almost 1 trillion of our annual budget goes to pay for the interest alone generated by the deficit spending and tax cuts of the Bush era. Things were pretty good under Clinton so I have a difficult time understanding about this being a Democratic Party issue?

Perhaps tea is the kool-aid of the 2000s.

The current administration has spent more in its first year than Bush spent in eight. Bush was a liberal (Compassionate Conservative), and spent like a liberal (rose by any other name). The interest that you mention is not just from the Bush years, it is for many more administrations. I will give Clinton credit for a few things, because he did cut out some wasteful spending.

What Obama spent in the past year is more than we spent on the war(s). The bad thing about wars is that if you don’t fight them there, you have to fight them here (note NY, Detroit, etc). You can see how much respect OB is getting in Iran. Their president dissed Obama big time recently. So much for negotiation. So much more time to get their bomb ready. They are building missles to deliver the bombs, and OB agreed not to build more missle defense. *sigh* Well he did save money by not building missle defense, but when we need it we are in deep do do. When Iran gets it bombs and nukes, you will see lots of liberals praying.

You certainly have everything right. And you said it in one paragraph. Maybe you should run for office, you would get most intelligent folks’ votes.

Thanks for your kind words – unusual in an internet forum – or any forum for that matter these days. Funny – I have thought about running for some kind of office, wanting to make a difference, etc. Unfortunately – even with the ‘intelligent’ vote – I’m starting to think there is not enough of you out there. If you hear of any employment opportunities in San Antonio – I would really appreciate any tips. Take care, thanks again.

If anyone is interested, the company that I am with took the best of the Insurance industry and mixed it with the best of the Real Estate industry. We pay advanced commissions, overrides and residuals from customers staying on the books. We are considered Casualty Insurance so not all states require for us to be licensed in that state. We operate throughout the US and 4 provinces in Canada and are always looking for individuals wanting to join us.

Yep, Stupid, they try to make it look all fine and dandy. And I feel your pain on the Credit Issue, WE ARE in the Biggest recession in our history, And if the wind blow’s the wrong way it will make the 30’s look good. Background check, okay, but credit? I hate that one too, My credit is fine today, but if I do not get a job that pays like I lost 2 years ago. I will be unemployable as well. You have to have good credit to Sell insurance with one of the big guy’s, but any Felon can be a politician? or President? How is that for economic justice. The only difference in Republicans and Democrates is the car They drive US in a ditch. Oh yea, by the way if you were going to drive a car in a ditch, would you rather be in a “Hummer” or a “hybrid”?

It’s very frustating be without employment and steady sending out resumes and getting no responses. I would love to do home based insurance work. I get to the point of not even looking anymore. I’m ready to change my career field. I’m ready to move like everybody else is doing.

    Hopeful
