…and – what a shocker – the sun CONTINUED to come up today, unlike the predictions of the haters that the world would end, life as we know it, etc, IF/WHEN marriage equality is law of the land.

This should be mad the law of the land not by states. Too confusing when someone gets married in a state that allows it then moves.

As much as I support marriage equality, states’ rights cannot be taken for granted. I understand your point, and I wish all states would recognize the right to marry, but we cannot allow the federal government to force that change. This is why DOMA was repealed – because it infringed upon states’ rights.

That’s interesting, Water Bug. I think EVERYONE should be allowed to suffer the joys of marraige (and, by extension divorce). Marraige is an institution, after all, and who doesn’t need to be institutionalized?

Morally wrong would include the seven deadly sins.

Loving someone and marrying that person is not a deadly sin.

      Oy ve.

I applaud the conservatives posting about the fact that gay marriage should not be something the federal court can outlaw. You know who you are.

      This above discourages me.

Religious morality is not the government’s place. I’m against the Washington state Gay marriage law, but for entirely different reasons. The law is an affront to the church. That’s the only reason I have issue with the marriage law here. If they had added two ammendments, I actaully would support it.

RN you are making conservatives look like crazies, and lifestyle police. That’s not our place.

Bills passed – or bills submitted for vote?

The abortion issue comes to mind first. Many state GOP politicians are doing every thing they can to eliminate abortions. I chose to have my children, but that doesn’t give me the right to tell others they have to give birth.

How about legislative initiatives regarding the following: access to reproductive health services, particularly birth control and abortion services; how violence against women is prosecuted; how rape is defined for purposes of public funding of abortion for rape victims; how workplace discrimination against women is treated; and litigation concerning equal pay for women.

In 2011 and 2012, many states passed legislation requiring that women seeking abortions first undergo government-mandated ultrasounds. Some states require that women view the image of the fetus and others require that women be offered the opportunity to listen to the fetal heartbeat. Since many women’s pregnancies are not far enough along to get an image via a traditional ultrasound, transvaginal ultrasounds, which involve the physician inserting a probe into the woman’s vagina, are required. Critics have questioned the value of having a medically unnecessary procedure, and characterized it as similar to some states’ legal definition of rape.

Is that enough legislation for you, Bob?

Do you think the gay community is going to support a party who calls them evil and equates their love to criminal activity and beastiality? Social conservatism is dying and the sooner the Republican Party recognizes that fact, the sooner they can gain more widespread support. Currently, the evangelicrazies are running the conservative show and that is why the Republican Party is suffering.

Really Planet? How come Obama all of a sudden changed his view on marriage? There are at least (8) times he said that marriage is between a man and a women per his viewpoint. I don’t have time to post all the websites right now, I’m working. If you don’t believe me check out his interviews in earlier years.

News flash – I don’t care what President Obama says about marriage equality. President Obama isn’t my compass. I know what he said in the past and wouldn’t argue your point above. I’m glad he’s finally on board. I’ve been promoting gay marriage for years. But, ask yourself this, draetish. Which representatives have used the “slippery slope” argument against gay marriage? And, of those reps, how many have D’s and how many have R’s in front of their names? Do you think gay people like being compared to a pedaphile or an incestuous parent? Further, do you think that comparison is fair or accurate? The evangelicrazies do. And, they are running the Republican Party today.

and that is the problem Planet, that is what the Democrats have said about the Republican Party but that is not the majority. But yet the media keeps pushing this garbage on everyone just like you. So what about Paula Deen, do you think she is an evangelicrazy for saying the N word?

No, that doesn’t make her evangelicrazy. That makes her a racist. Evangelicrazy are those that are trying to govern from the religious right and who actually think the United States is a Christian nation, and that the founding fathers intended for it to be.

Huh? Okay, so you agree with me then? The nation was not founded on Christianity.

Morals vary and the evangelicrazies are trying to shove THEIR morals down every American’s throat. Do homosexuals not have morals and integrity? What are you suggesting? Besides, separation of Church and State. Just because something may be morally wrong doesn’t make it illegal.

No the nation was founded by men who had morals and integrity and never dreamed we become a nation of big government that lies and covers up everything they do. It’s called “doing the right thing” and without morals you don’t know what’s right or wrong and you have no convictions.Where will it stop Planet?

Am I imagining the separation of church and state in our ORIGINAL constitution? Weren’t our founding fathers trying to protect the citizens from religious tyranny? Isn’t forced religion one of the deciding factors for leaving their home countries? Did I dream this while sleeping through American History in school?

Morals like owning slaves, having relations with slaves, and integrity settling disputes with violence. The founding fathers did a superb job in creating this nation, but let’s not pretend they were saints.

I respectfully disagree with your premise regarding, “lies and covering up everything they do” and until you can factually support that broadly painted statement, we have little more to discuss. I thought we were talking about gay marriage in this forum. Should we stay on topic?

Let’s not pretend any of that was encouraged by the founding fathers nor the constituion. It was left to the people to decide morality. The people went for slaves, and settling disputes with violence.

Insulting. You have no clue how we were founded apparently and why they made this country the way they did.
