It depends. If she is responding to inane posts that her pompous agency owner is putting on that them there interweb, then she should probably get a raise. If she has to sign for “brown paper packages” that are delivered to your office anonymously from Chicago, you might want to give her a raise. If they have to pledge allegiance to the flag of Texico every day upon entering the office, you may want to give them a raise.
Or in your case booger, we just let them go the first time we catch them not doing the job we hired them to do. You are a disaster as a person and should be committed to a mental institution and you might like the padded cell after 5-10 years. In my case, the answer has always been raise. But then again, I’m the exception to the rule. Gets my job done, plus helps others with theirs, and still have time to post. It’s called multi-tasking Agent. I’d suggest you try it, but I doubt you’re capable enough.
In reading this article, which states that agency personnel salaries are trending up. I’ve been on my job for over 12 years now, and I can honestly say, that I’m not getting any raises. I’m the office manager, and a producer. I manage one employee who does as little as possible and honestly I have no clue what he does, even though I watch him all day, but he looks busy, but he takes forever to do anything. This employee has made the comment that he doesn’t get paid enough to work any harder. I bust my a** to make trying to get business in the door, I do most of the csr work as we don’t have one at my location. All I can say is that I’m making less than I was 2 years ago. But I do have one fabulous benefit, my health insurance is 100% paid by my employer.
Hey Secret Agent Girl, straight salary increases tend to top off at some point, especially for personnel on the job for more than 10 years. What do you get paid for producing business? If you have brought in business to the agency, do you not get commission for doing that both new and renewal? That is where the real money is to increase income. If you are not being compensated for the production, it might be time to talk to the owner. As an agency owner, I have a lady just like you who is highly compensated and she even does agency accounting, Commercial CSR and we pay her commission on business she develops or gets referrals from clients on.
Thanks to industry wide rate increases, some ships are anchored and taking on water while others rise with the tide.
Moral…if your ship is sinking unanchor your boat.
If a CSR is blogging all day, maybe they should be terminated. Don’t get me wrong, we all check e-mail and the news, but if the work is not being done, it should be addressed.
Blog on your breaks. You can actually learn things on IJ if you try. Sometimes it is even about insurance though most times I leave this website thinking it is more about party line politics. Anyway if you learn something it can only benefit you so maybe that will help get you the raise.
What would an agency owner pay a CSR who was blogging on IJ all day long ad nauseam? Would they get a raise or a pay cut?
