Has anyone factored in the possibility that drivers might become generally less alert to other traffic as a result of installing these automated systems? Will this potential consequence significantly reduce the expected number of lives saved?

Couldn’t you also ask those questions in previous improvements?

Example 1: What potential consequence could come from drivers not driving as responsibly as they normally would, because they now have pre-accident tension seatbelts, airbags, and a windshield that won’t decapitate them in a loss?

Example 2: How alert will a driver’s attention actually be if they’re not controlling the acceleration and deceleration of the vehicle when using this new cruise control feature?

There is an element of truth in some of your arguments/examples. However, none of the listed safety aids give the driver any warnings, the driver still has to pay attention to what is happening around him/her. As for cruise control; this “driving aid” has been cited as being responsible for many accidents.
