McDonald’s has been losing market share on fast food for a while now. They are getting a bit desperate by now offering breakfast all day long. Fast Food should not be a career choice for people and should be a starter job. Paying burger flippers $15 per hour will only make the burgers cost a lot more. Who wants to pay $10 for a Big Mac or a Whopper?

Fast food should not be a career choice? Why not? I’m sure the CEO’s of McDonalds, Chipolte, Taco Bell and others would be happy you are steering people away from their average salary of $26.7 million dollars a year.

They are losing market share due to places like Chipotle, which you have ripped on here numerous times, because Millenials prefer a healthier alternative and go there. They were losing market share before the $15 minimum wage was enacted in Seattle, but as a master of all things economic and data-driven, I am sure I don’t have to tell you about the numerous recent studies showing increases in the minimum wage do not decrease employment, or harm companies. There have finally been “natural experiments” that have helped to do away with the BS Dittoheads like yourself regurgitate from earlier flawed, or fraudulent studies.

          Citation needed.

There are plenty of studies that do show increases in minimum wage harming business.

I’m not using this opinion piece to show that, as it isn’t a study, but this opinion piece goes over that Hoover pushed higher wages as well:

Bob, San Francisco raised their wage over 25% ten years ago and incrementally since then and there hasn’t been a negative effect on jobs according to studies at the UC, Berkeley. San Jose had a similar outcome. The business had lower turnover which saves money and leads to a better trained workforce. The Institute for Research on Labor and Employment found an increase to $13 has no effect on employment, that was years ago and would bee higher now. The Univ of New Mexico has found the same thing. Also there is an interesting study of bordering cities where only one increased the wage and there was a positive effect in the city with the new higher wage.

I am sure you don’t know her history so you kind of get a break, but you link to a person with an English degree who poses as an economist and had written some of the most comically uninformed articles on economics in recent memory. She cites John Williams in her moronic, constantly wrong articles about inflation and hyperinflation. She is clueless at best and in reality nothing but a propagandist for this type of junk economics.

Listen …., remove dolt from your comments. Or I’ll respond in kind. I have given you passes, but take note to how I react to Ron and consider why. He has a history with me, so I’m not lenient. You don’t, so I have given you chances.

            Moving on:

For every study you claim showing it doesn’t, I can show ones that do.

My point in using Hoover was that republicans have been ok with minimum wage increases. It is an issue in which there is disagreement. However you mentioned that Agent must be paying his agents minimum wage, inferring that you believe that republicans are behind on the issue.

Republicans tend to tie minimum wage to the profits of the company if they go with passing it, which is the best way to ensure there is no bad affect whatsoever.

Have you ever seen a P&L sheet? I have. It comes with the field I quote. I have quoted over probably 5,000 businesses in my career.

I know the margins. If a standard business raised the wages by 25% they would not be able to afford it, and many cannot offset the costs by raising prices. It would amount to $46,250 at an absolute minimum for small business with 10 employees. Have you seen a P&L sheet for firms that size?

You are talking about bigger firms which may not have an affect. You cannot pretend there will be no affect on small business by raising minimum wage. It is ignorant to say that raising wages won’t reduce business revenues.

As for people staying with firms if the minimum wage is increased: I sincerely doubt this. Citation needed, dolt.

You said I don’t know “her” history. Do you mean my history?

I am well aware of history, Jack ass. As has been shown in my comments. You would do well to treat me as someone knowledgeable when I give source quotes of about 10 links in the most recent post I commented on. You disagree. That is what it is. Stop being an arrogant piece of ….

            Also UW:

The cost in minimum wage is generally felt most in start up businesses, small ones as I mentioned, less than 10 employees.

It tends to do away with lot profit margin jobs, or jobs that are niche and don’t need an extensive labor force.

            Etc.

It does have an affect in this area. It is not an opinion, it is a fact. It is common sense.

            Also, ignorant jack ass,

I specifically said the point of my link was not to go over minimum wage affects, and you STILL went after the source.

It was solely to confirm Hoover was for raising the minimum wage.

            Do you agree?

Then shut …. up and keep on topic, jack ass.

There was no reason to go after that source and you did so anyway didn’t you?

            By the way:

            https://www.cbo.gov/publication/44995

Is the CBO a valid source, Jack ass?

I told you before it is the democrats who usually side step the CBO, not republicans.

So are you about to become one of those democrats and say the CBO doesn’t know what they are talking about for this link, but they do when it comes to the ACA and it’s affects?

Beating down your arguments is easy because you don’t have any.

Is that how us republicans think?

You were already wrong here once. It is not far fetched to think you’re wrong again about minimum wage, especially considering you don’t source quote, and when you do, you don’t digest what your source says. In other words the methodology. You just take their conclusion and spread it around like your own poo.

It’s like watching an ignorant 20 something year old commenting on sports as if he knows anything.

You are not an active participant of the research you quote unless you go over the methodology yourself.

Bob, you idiot, I will not remove dolt from my comments, because it is well deserved. Also, you cannot “be lenient” with me, because only a person in authority can be lenient, not a bitching ignoramus on the internet. Yes, I have seen how you reply to those other people–with nothing but insults and slurs–which is why I respond in kind to you.

As for your idiotic claim about minimum wage harming jobs, this article summarizes all the minimum wage studies by economists in recent history and shows that simply isn’t true when raising it at this level. At worst there is no job loss, but that includes the studies showing job loss, which the author points out skew far away from the mean and are not nearly as rigorous–despite right-wingers like you pasting summary statistics and calling it being data-driven.

            http://cepr.net/documents/publications/min-wage-2013-02.pdf

Yes I have seen payroll breakdowns, having worked with small/medium businesses before my current role, where I work with many of the top 50 in the Fortune 500, including many in the top 15-20, I can safely say I have seen some of the largest payroll breakdowns in the country if not the world–although that’s irrelevant, because there is actual economic data out there. But, what really got me was this statement showing your ignorance on economics in general, and this topic specifically:

“I know the margins. If a standard business raised the wages by 25% they would not be able to afford it, and many cannot offset the costs by raising prices”

Yes, it would be bad for many companies to raise their labor prices by 25%, but that isn’t being done here. They are only raising those making minimum wage. No companies would have an across the board increase of all wages of 25% because the minimum was increased. That simply is not how it works. But, if that would destroy their company, good riddance, they shouldn’t exist. Any company paying their employees that little is effectively being subsidized by the government by having them cover benefits for employees, whether it is health care, food stamps, welfare, etc. You also claim that most minimum wage jobs are in startups; this is outright bullshit.

Just in this thread you insult me, call multiple people a jackass, accuse people of making multiple accounts, say somebody is a “worse person”, a jerk, and that is like 1/3 of the way down the page when I stopped looking.

You won’t change your mind, or look at reality on tax rates, so explain why some of the biggest corporations pay no tax, with that high rate? That study you look at is okay, but that lady makes the same constant mistake. It doesn’t consider money they make and put in tax havens, like the companies crying for tax repatriation. There are other problems, but in these studies the best way to look at it is to consider profitable companies, which she doesn’t do, but which is arguable. Most economists who look at this consider that for many reasons.

You do this in every thread where somebody challenges your insane statements. You are the typical conservative where you rant about the fake civility you pretend to care about so much, and throw insult after insult; kind of like the fake bullshit civility in the south, or similar to what the GOP does before blasting Mexicans, poors, olds, blacks, young people, etc. You are probable a good ole boy in reality, but I cannot go by that, and online you are a total clown.

Contrary to the mayor’s quote, not all franchisees of the restaurant chains are “big businesses.” Many are individuals or families that have only a few restaurants. Why treat a family that is a McDonald’s franchisee with 3 restaurants differently from a family with 3 local sandwich shops?

On another note, when I broke free from the captive side, I sat down with a Loan Counselor from the SBA. I was told I would qualify for an SBA Start Up loan. Was handed a stack of papers with a pile of stuff I had to put together. One of the items was a Business Plan 3 years and 5 years. I spent hours and hours and hours putting this together paper work together. I had a college kid working for me at the time that put the Biz Plan in together. He used it for a Class Project and got an A+ on it. Took the SBA less then half an hour to decline my application after at least 10 hours of putting it together after I was told I was exactly what the program was looking for. I was also told if I were a minority, they would have cut the loan.

            Help from the Govt?

I paid out over $15,000 in med bills last year. My wife has another situation going on which, worse case scenario will kill her in a year. She is refusing to go to the doc because she dont want to rack up med bills / debt again. The govt didnt help make med coverage more affordable even when they call the law the Affordable Care Act. Hopefully she gets her head out of her ass and gets the situation addressed quickly (its been over two months now) and its nothing more then a fibro mass. If its the C word, I’ll be a widower.

FFA, sorry to hear about your wife’s troubles. My wife has had a lot of health issues as you know and I nearly lost her a few years ago due to an embolism that migrated from a surgery and went up to her lungs. We were lucky that we had a great surgeon that got it out and saved her. He said she would have been dead in a week unless he got it out. 17 days in the hospital before she came home and a lot of home healthcare after that. You know what, if a person has their health, they have about everything. Best wishes for your wife and I hope she recovers and gets well soon.

He is in a shit market. He could easily hire people for $9-10/hr. He also clearly isn’t in a competitive market where access to reality is necessary, so the only reason he needs more than a couple employees is because it is so cheap, and there is so little actual work that he can easily have somebody else do it.

Agent, I honestly think you are mentally disabled. There is not a single post you make that is even close to reality. Yes, you idiot, in the last few months they have had lower sales. But, their stock has increased almost 20% in the last few days.

Chipotle has been growing at 20%+ per year for years. For an absolute clueless dolt like yourself I will let you know that is explosive, and cut into the number of people going to McDonald’s.

I honestly don’t understand how you can make it through your day. There has literally never been a topic you are right on or even know the basics about. You supposedly run a business, and don’t know what market share is.

Also, like always, you base your idiotic analysis on people you know, not reality, not sales data, not stock price, not recent news, not anything but what would literally be the dumbest possible thing, other than making it up–which I think is what you actually did.

Yes, Agent, I do consider Bob a bully and incredibly arrogant. And you’re wrong about who leads in name calling – it’s a pretty close race between Left and Right. As for the links to prove his point, most anyone can find a link to support their thoughts if they phrase the search in their favor. It is Bob’s arrogance in telling people how they should behave and what he will and will not tolerate that stands out. Accompanied by the barrage of posts without allowing any response, Bob certainly appears to be an individual with an incredibly large ego, little tolerance for others, and a very short fuse. I didn’t say he was right or wrong – just very, very arrogant.

There is no way to win for the worker. If they have any benefits at all, they will just switch the money going to pay the employers part of insurance to raise their pay to $15 an hour. Then they have to sign up for Obamacare and probably end up paying more for insurance than what they increased their pay by. People need to be careful for what they ask for.

We have a local restaurant with 3 locations. The lease was expiring on one location and the property was being acquired for development. Customers wanted the restaurant owner to open at another nearby location. However, the owner calculated potential healthcare costs, and took this as an opportunity to get his employee total below 50 so as not to have to provide health insurance to employees under Obamacare.

Some of these dudes like Ron don’t even pay income taxes. We do and we are the taxpayers who built the infrastructure, roads that the government got from us. Agent, you idiot, Obama offered to lower the corporate tax rate about 7%, and Republicans rejected it, because they reject everything, and because it widened the base so fewer companies could use obscure loopholes.

Also, your line about the highest corporate tax rate is absolute bullshit. You are either terribly uninformed, or intentionally misleading when you make that statement. As every person who has studied the topic knows, the average effective corporate tax rate in the US is around 12.5%.

The OECD shows that US corporate taxes account for only about 2.5% of GDP, which is the 11th lowest of studied industrialized nations.

You are so deluded there is no real point addressing your Obamacare/jobs bullshit, but like everything I have ever seen you write, it is wrong, of course.

            Here are some facts:
            1. The corporate tax rate has not changed since 1993
            2. The corporate tax rate was higher under President Reagan than it is today
            3. Congress sets the corporate tax rate, not the president.

            http://www.fas.org/sgp/crs/misc/R41743.pdf

Read down further, the effective average tax rate reported by the government study is 27.1%.

The 12.5% you are grabbing is during the massive losses of 2008 etc. I have seen those studies. Can you see why when corporations have huge losses, their tax burdens may go down for several years, especially when they were allowed to write off up to 5 years of losses in that time frame?

            Moving on:

A higher marginal rate with more deductions makes for scenarios that the largest corporations will have the deductions and the smallest will not.

A lower rate, say 20% with no deductions ensures the largest will pay 20% no matter what, and the smallest will have low rates no matter what.

We do need to lower the rate.

            For you Ron:

Who has blocked and made it unpopular to lower the Corporate tax rate itself?

Whether or not congress decides, certain people make it impossible.

We have nearly the highest rate in the world, and our revenues from it are pitiful, and you think nothing is wrong with the rate?

All the evidence shows the rate we have needs to be changed for both revenue and fairness issues.

You democrats are definitely the party impeding that change for petty disagreements like the one you just had with Agent.

            UW:

I have now source quoted the effective tax rate from a government study,

And I have shown that Hoover was for raises in the minimum wage.

But there is no data to see here, is there UW?

I am going to hammer this home until you get the point.

Republicans are not stupid people who are not data driven.

While we are on data driven why don’t we look at Bernie Sanders, the man who 85% of 18-29 year olds voted for, you tell me who the low information voters are UW, you tell me, because that age group votes primarily democrat:

            http://taxfoundation.org/article/details-and-analysis-senator-bernie-sanders-s-tax-plan

By comparison to Ted Cruz, whose plan I will link in a moment.

9.5 percent negative of GDP, vs a 13.9 percent increase. That is a net difference of 23.4%

We have 12.84 percent lower incomes, by compared to Ted Cruz’s 14% increase, a net difference of 26.84% Let’s say we collected 10% of that. 10% of all the incomes in the U.S. UW? How much revenues do you suppose that would bring in? Let’s say it’s 10% of $20,000, a low number, and there are 145 million jobs, the number of revenue from increasing all those incomes by that number is 2.9 trillion for the government, even at 10%.

6 million less jobs vs 4.8 million more. A net difference of 10.8 million. If they even made $20,000 a year, payroll tax alone would be 43.2 billion dollars of government revenue, and then 10.8 million people wouldn’t need government spending to help them as much.

Capital available is directly linked to stocks, which is how the middle class can afford to retire.

Capital stock negative 18.6 percent Bernie Sanders

43.9 percent increase for Cruz. That is 62.5% of a net difference. This would make someone retire much better.

And yet, with all these things clearly showing Bernie would make the economy a much worse place,

EIGHTY FIVE percent of the 18-29 year olds voted for him to be the nomination in Iowa. This is the low information section of society. Not Agent.

Capital available is also linked to low interest rates.

So you can see how this policy would have achieved the lower interest rates Obama sought without doing it through increased spending but rather through tax cutting that would hit everyone with benefits instead of giving large sums of cash to banks.

And which party is for the big corporations again?

You are beyond ignorant UW. Get a clue.

Republicans are truly against cronyism and big business.

            Ron,

Who is going to put forward the idea Ron? When a republican is president there will be a bigger chance of a lower corporate tax rate.

            Also:

If all you can say, like a partisan idiotic child is your republicans aren’t perfect either…Then you are not worth my time.

It is a matter of who is best.

I just gave numbers and you said stop giving Cruz the edge against Bernie?

Cruz is better than Bernie by the numbers.

By the damn numbers. Stop trying to label who I am and whether I prefer republicans to dismiss numbers!!!

            I WOULD VOTE BERNIE.

Also note, when I said that you said, I mean essentially.

Because obviously I was not saying republicans were perfect.

I was comparing Cruz and Bernie. I also compared who blocked corporate tax rate change.

If the facts are not favorable to democrats, then we don’t suddenly twist it around and say we need to be more reasonable to democrats and put more blame on republicans.

That is not how facts work.

If however, republicans were to blame, I WOULD BLAME THEM. Such as the Texas governor who was against the HPV vaccine. I blame him for that.

My wife would do the same for me if it were me that was sick. She is a fine, loving woman with a big heart who bore two great daughters who are very successful in their own lives.

Well agent… May not be back on the rest of the week. Got some travel time in front of me. So here is my prediction for the Super Bowl, Ron Rivera D will have Manning running for his life. If Mannings receivers can “sense” he is in trouble and break off their routes, we should be in for a good game.
On the other side of the ball, The Denver D will need to keep pace with Cam running wild. If they can keep him in the pocket, he wont be able to play his game and Denver should win.
Either way – two of the best D’s in the league with two of the best QB -if not the best – should make for an entertaining game.

    I pick Carolina by 3.

Well, the way I see it FFA is that Denver will have to play out of their minds defensively to keep the game close. They will have to figure out how to control Newton, because Denver is not going to be able to score much on Carolina. If it is close at the half, it will be a good game. If Newton goes wild, it could get out of hand much like the Cardinals game. I hope it is a good game and not a blowout. I can always switch to Golf if I lose interest.

Well FFA, Denver did do what they had to do. They played great defense and came after Newton and he never was able to get in the flow. Manning didn’t have to do anything and didn’t most of the game. Von Miller deserved the MVP for completely disrupting Carolina.

I will say this game was one of the worst in recent years. It is nauseating seeing teams play this way. The best two teams in football should be able to put on a better show. That is why I turned it off in the fourth quarter.

FFA, Carolina did not do a good job adjusting in this game. They should have been giving that tackle some help on Miller. He had no chance to stop that rush. On the other hand, Michael Oher (Blind Side) seemed to do ok on the other side except for a false start. Carolina looked “shell shocked” for most of the game and Newton found out what a real defense can do.

FFA, we appreciate the 85 Bears as being the stoutest defense we have seen. Denver was close this year. Did you notice Miller’s eyes when he lined up facing the camera? They were big and he was salivating to get to Newton and he did. That tackle assigned to him had to see it as well. After a few series, the coaches should have realized they needed to do something about Miller, but didn’t so they got whomped big time.
