For those who don’t understand the thought process involved, the payments are a stop gap to fund subsidies until the GOP installs a set of regulations that allow the insurance industry to make health care and health insurance affordable to more people.

This move is not an inconsistency or hypocrisy on GOP members. Rather, it is a means of preventing greater problems with ACA until the appropriate actions can be taken to fully dismantle ACA (repeal) and replace (actually, a refurbishing of the health care and insurance industries via federal and state regulations on related issues) it with better systems/ processes.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but:

      1) The insurance companies were promised this money before Trump took office, right?

      2) The GOP filed a lawsuit while Obama was in office saying the money the carriers were promised was inappropriately funded so they shouldn’t get the money until it goes through the proper channels, correct?

      3) The GOP has decided to allow the funds promised for 2017 be sent to the carriers, but

      4) The GOP is going to keep the lawsuit in place and — presuming Obamacare is still in place, and in full, next year — the GOP will make no guarantees that the carriers will be getting next years’ payment, correct?

        @Rosenblatt;

The money sent to insurance cos. was NEVER approved by Congress.

Paul Ryan requested info on it from the US Treasury. The US Treasury NEVER responded to Ryans’ letter.

I previously documented this in a paper detailing how Obama BROKE THE LAW regarding funding ACA plans supported by insurance companies. Now that the ACA is in an irreversible death spiral, the insurance companies have been getting out of states, one by one, and will be willing to work with the Republicans to end their FISCAL MISERY – because no further unauthorized money will be given to them by the US Treasury.

The rest of your post is not worth responding to because I gave all the pertinent FACTS above.

Yeah, PolarBearRepealTrump gave you all the pertinent facts, the way she/he did when alluding to the killer Healthcare Plan the GOP has been putting together since 2010 with total agreement by ALL of the GOP to Repeal and Replace Day 1 of Trump’s Presidency.

This would be the same Health Care plan that died in the House of Representatives even though the GOP had ALL THREE HOUSES OF GOVERNMENT. That plan.

The $7 billion bill was to ensure that the GOP was re-elected in 2018. Nothing More, nothing less.

@Celtica; the pertinent facts are that Obama’s Administration ILLEGALLY funded several insurance companies through UNAUTHORIZED PAYMENTS FROM THE US TREASURY.

IIRC, the amount was 3.2B, but there were numbers in some articles that were probably WRONG that said the amount STOLEN from US taxpayers was $2.2B. Regardless, the US Treasury NEVER responded to Ryan’s inquiry…. meaning they would have to admit their ILLEGAL payment to insurers a particular sum of money that was NOT APPROVED by Congress.

Polar, hot off the press. Knoxville, Tn is the first city to face the total collapse of Obamacare when Humana (last one) announced they would be pulling out in 2018. The State of Tennessee has lost almost all carriers providing the subsidized plans. What a travesty the Democrats foisted on the American people. We have no choice but to repeal and replace and get a new plan in where the carriers can operate across state lines, do Med/Mal reform and get rid of those nasty mandates and provide real Choice to consumers.

Bob, your statement about having your posts deleted is pretty disturbing since you have a right to your opinion and evidence. Someone at IJ apparently has an agenda to stifle Conservative opinion since they line up with the Progressive element on this forum. Have you emailed Josh or Andrew on this?

The irony is my comment about comments being deleted was deleted.

More irony is that after I sent that comment, immediately after, I received an email saying off topic comments would be deleted from Andrew.

More disturbing is that Rosenblatt’s comments are still here.

But yet even more disturbing, as off topic as Andrew believes these things are, they aren’t always off topic from what I’m seeing on the deleted ones. Some are, but I see some that aren’t.

I think it’s clear that IJ is trying to stop the infighting on the site. That is fine, if they state it as such, but this means they are going to remove comments that we say which while true, anger Ron and UW.

We have a hotspot for disaster with that, in that the easily offended will start to rule this roost. I’m not ok with that. I’m packing up.

I don’t really mind who is the King of it.

My only concern is structural aspects. I work the same way with the healthcare debate, and the subsidies.

The structure I see being put in place currently is definitely one geared more at control based on a very vocal easily offended crowd, similar to the structure of safe spaces in college. That’s why I care.

If someone for example in college was very vocal in favor of an ACA topic that was not the same as this current one, and he was shut down, wouldn’t I be a hypocrite for calling him the King of off topic and saying he should be silenced if I advocate for free speech on campus?

That’s the bigger concern isn’t it? Not who is a hypocrite.

If the Republicans in TN would have been willing to allow the public option, instead of throwing a hissy fit, they would have coverage available. Unfortunately, they don’t care about human lives; they only care about getting their way and giving more to the rich.

They do everything they can to sabotage everything, just so they can say, “See? It doesn’t work.” They don’t care if it kills people, as long as they can give more to their rich overlords and get more in “campaign contributions”.

They care about the structure of delivering healthcare, and efficiency of government assistance with being able to provide for yourself.

That money for the public option doesn’t come from nowhere, even if it’s taken from the rich it takes from the productivity of the business taken from and raises the cost of living.

The goal is to allow people to provide for themselves with the economy, not the government.

When you say things like that it only reveals you think the government is the only way to take care of yourself, and without it there is doom.

This is absurd. The goal of republicans has never been what you just said.

You turn it into that because you don’t know what “opinions” are and certainly don’t respect them.

Since the republicans have a different opinion than you they must want people dead. That’s totally logical.
