Seems like buying Otto has brought Uber more trouble than profit. The author of the article is right – the world doesn’t need 1 more broker. But what about HiTech broker? The broker who can perform more operations in a measure of time than a full department of CH Robinson for example can perform.
The Apps like Doft or Uber freight are not the brokers in the way we used to define what brokerage is.Yes they perform the brokers function – they match the shippers with the drivers. But they do not participate in the deal. They just get their commission for the matching service, still the shipper and the driver deal directly.
