Of course there are a shortage of CAT adjusters. Insurance companies no longer want to bear the costs of training and employing CAT teams so they have little resources once a CAT occurs. Borrowing from office staff adjusters is risky as their cases are not assumed by others and quality declines. Burnout occurs and people leave.

Unfortunately, this is the business model of most insurance carriers who are publicly traded profit entities these days.

Carriers are having difficulty attracting and retaining quality adjusters given the unreasonably high expectations, modest pay, terrible working conditions and hours. We all know a shortage of multi-line adjusters exists as most are now line specific and this just continues to worsen the situation.
