Let me get this straight. The Republicans have had 7+ years to formulated an outline for their replacement of the PPACA, 2 1/2 months to refine the plan knowing they maintained their majorities Congress and now had a Republican President just itching to sign it, 9 months in control and they could not even convince the members of their party of how great it is? If it was 1/2 as great as they have been telling us, I would imagine they might even get a few moderate Democrats to vote for it.

Sounds like we are back to the drawing board and, thankfully, this time it will have to be a bi-partisan solution that follows the proper legislative rules.

What’s the proper timeframe for fixing a hyuuuge mess called ACA?
I assume you will reply with a time LESS THAN the current elapsed time.
      Surprise me.

Less than the current elapsed time is *exactly* the correct answer. People who are for repeal can’t campaign on it for that long and not have a coherent plan on how to do it without facing derision. They are acting on promises long since obsolete as the majority of the country came to support the system (or at least support it more than the Republican alternatives so far).

Yes. Because they were told if their daddy government didn’t handle it people would die and not get care.

Your side does a good job of squashing opposition and deflecting from their own deficiencies. While I know you will then say so do republicans, no. After much review of this repeal and replacement, it is a good step. A VERY good step, considering the avenue taken to pass it.

They simply don’t have the votes due to your side. Repealing the ACA will be better than having it, and moving toward market based solutions will help.

They can’t add to the deficit, which means no vouchers or similar type system, but we can address that separately.

If it were spelled out to several of the key players, the most stubborn Republicans would see the repeal alone would then set the stage for meaningful legislation to aid the private insurance industry to fix the costs and coverages issues. The latter would occur via increased market freedom through reduced / modified regulations.

Thank you for focusing on the least important part of my post.

The true intent of my post was to point out that, assuming the Republicans had a grand replacement that would improve coverage and reduce premiums, as they said they did, they had plenty of time to have it passed and signed by President Trump by now.

The Republicans keep proving me right that they have no interest in governing, only complaining.

The ‘no’ votes include McCain reneging on his campaign pledge.

The delay is not a big deal, but you continually TRY to make it so.

The ‘grand plan’ you mention now is to be RE-determined due to a few RINOs working OUTSIDE the Republican tent to upset the original plan. The RINOs and Butt-hurt McCain will be allowed to move the plan toward ACA-lite, time and again. I project the ACA will fail in the end cycle of the current Death Spiral before it is repealed. The net result of the 2018 Senate Elections will be a gain of about 5 seats for the Republicans, which will neutralize the 3 RINOs ‘no’ votes.

“If it was 1/2 as great as they have been telling us, I would imagine they might even get a few moderate Democrats to vote for it.”

This is a patently absurd assertion. There are inconceivable differences between democrats and republicans. Democrats insist on spending more on healthcare, republicans insist on vouchers, shopping, and market based solutions. As an example: The ER visits I just mentioned are skyrocketing under Medicaid where people are over charged, allowing grants may be less “federal funding” but it is not less care. This means maybe you get $5,000 of government support now instead of $10,000 without shopping, but that care you need might just cost $2,000 if you do. This is not uncommon. It occurred with shopping out the birth of my child, it occurs with shopping dentistry, to the tune of paying half, it occurs in the area of clinics in many areas. You can not reconcile the liberal and conservative differences here. Paul Ryan knew this and it is why even in Medicare he advocates vouchers. A set amount results in thoughtlessness in your healthcare spending which helps no one. Vouchers encourage you to shop around.

“Sounds like we are back to the drawing board and, thankfully, this time it will have to be a bi-partisan solution that follows the proper legislative rules.”

They were following reconciliation rules, they were not breaking any rules. There is not bi partisan solution on this one. We need to eventually try the republican route. You are completely adverse to it, despite no nation doing it. Stop mocking republicans, stop the cliché lines, and let them get something passed.

Sue is a voice of logic and reason. And, I’m so old I remember when Republicans were complaining about backroom deals. I imagine some of you out here who complained several years back are just livid right now to know your own party and this “president” are behaving in similar fashion.

Proper levels of Medicaid are desired, not wasteful levels.

RINOs will be pushed aside upon their next re-election bid.

It’s only a matter of about 16 months (next Congress is seated) until ACA is gone.

Polar, there is no guarantee that new Congressional representatives will be any more compliant than the prior ones. In fact, new representatives are very often less in step with the party line than the seasoned ones they replace.

The only hope would be that Republicans have a sweeping victory to get themselves to a super-majority or they are able to propose some new plan.

So, where do I think the ACA is headed? For the inevitable end that was designed by the DEMS in 2009 to lead to calls on the left for Single Delayer, er, Single Slayer, er, Single Payer Health Care. But they miscalculated that 2016 Election thingy.

Not sure there’s a better answer across the isle either. The Dems don’t have a better plan. Trump needs to lead by handpicking 10-15 of the brightest Dems and Reps, putting them up in one of his resorts, give them access to the best industry veterans, and tell them they can’t leave until they have a plan we can all live with. Of course it will always come back to: health care is expensive, doctors want budge on their pay checks, diseases & accidents span all income brackets, nobody wants to pay for it, and no one wants their loved one to go without the best care possible.

It is DIE! That didn’t seem to go over very well in his Florida District and he lost in a landslide in the Mid Terms. Everybody on the left seems to discount what happened in the Shellacking of 10 which was the biggest in 40 years. Those same voters are still around and are motivated to even a bigger degree since the country is in more trouble now than then. With the prospect of Sequestration on the budget, higher taxes for all citizens, Obamacare on the horizen including all their new taxes, robbing Medicare for $716 Billion, I think we will end up with a landslide for Romney. Planet & Libby can drink all the Koolaid they have left and listen to the left wing polls and websites and it won’t change how the people think or vote next week.”

Captain, if you examine the sentence: “The Tea Party landslide in 2010 showed how Republicans are quick to recognize and oust RINOs and traitors to their conservative principles,” you will find that the Tea Party are not actually Republicans so ousting RINO’s just means that they are not Tea Party members — or that they can organize for that matter. They are just whack jobs in a time warp that will soon see the end of their days.

Amen, Celtica. That voting populous demographic isn’t getting any younger. Heck, some might even be a victim in the next election of the same voting suppression they supported in the last election. “What a drag it is getting old…”
