Specialty Risk Associates Is Expanding Management Team

Louisiana-based insurance wholesaler, Specialty Risk Associates Inc., announced several changes to its management team that will become effective Sept. 1.

Thomas Garland was named chief operating officer. Garland joined Specialty Risk in 2004 as vice president of Marketing and Underwriting responsible for the coordination of marketing and underwriting efforts of the home office in Shreveport, La., in addition to the branch offices in Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.

Brad Wood and David Wood were both named assistant vice presidents. Both began their careers with Specialty Risk and both are graduates from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.

Barb Lowe was appointed vice president of Commercial Underwriting. Lowe has been with Specialty Risk for more than 17 years and began her career in the retail sector before joining Specialty Risk as a commercial lines underwriter.

Sherry Bennett assumed the position of vice president of Commercial Underwriting in the Baton Rouge branch. Bennett has worked for Specialty Risk as a commercial lines underwriter for over 22 years.

In addition to management changes, Specialty Risk has added Terri Morgan to its Shreveport team.

Morgan worked as a commercial Lines Account Executive in Virginia and Wyoming before moving to Louisiana. She has joined Specialty Risk as a commercial lines assistant underwriter and has more than 20 years experience in the insurance industry.
