What? This is an outrage! What about my 1st Amendment rights? They are trying to limit my freedom of speech! This has got to be Obama’s fault. Call Mark Levin and his whiny voice.

I’m assuming you’re using a little sarcasm, Captain. Frankly, cell phone usage – talking or texting – should be banned while driving. The last statistics reflect 83% of cell phone calls are personal in nature; i.e. is it THAT important to call/text someone to tell them you’re on your way home or you just saw so-and-so?

We’ve all seen it: some yahoo going 50 miles an hour (or less) in the fast lane because they can’t talk/drive/look in the rearview mirror at the same time. We’ve seen cars cross their lane lines and back because the driver is looking down while texting. It IS worse than a drunk driver.

Remember drive-up phones? Same premise: You need to use the phone? Pull over!!

Scott, Don’t expect Planet to ever give anything but a sarcastic post on most issues. He knows how dangerous texting while driving is. It is a very big growing problem and the cause of a good percentage of wrecks now in this terribly distracted society. The cell phone now is like Linus blanket in Charlie Brown. They have to have it in their hand 24/7. I wonder what they do when they are in the shower. Maybe they put it in a sandwich bag so they can text while showering.
