It will be another day or two before State Farm Insurance Company will have information on the amount of insured losses resulting from a series of strong storms that hit eastern and southeastern states Nov. 10 and 11. At least 33 people dead and more than 40 missing as a result of the storms that damaged entire towns in some instances. According to BestWire, State Farm is the largest insurer in several of the impacted states.
Particularly hard hit were Tennessee, Alabama and Ohio. State Farm indicated communications facilities were down in eastern Tennessee and the company had been unable to get into several counties there. The company is bringing four catastrophe teams from other states to help with claims in Tennessee.
