At a Dec. 4 public hearing, the Alabama Department of Insurance will consider requests by State Farm Mutual Auto Insurance Co. and State Farm Fire & Casualty raise auto insurance rates in that states.
According to the Associated Press, State Farm Mutual wants a 5.1 percent on average increase, and State Farm Fire & Casualty, wants an 11.7 percent rate hike.
State Farm Fire & Casualty insures higher-risk drivers.
Progressive Specialty Insurance increased rates in Alabama by an average of 4.8 percent in September.
