Jim Tedesco, 37, was charged on Tuesday morning with two counts of attempted first degree murder from a double shooting Monday at his east Asheville, N.C. business.
Tedesco made his first court appearance Tuesday morning after being arrested by Asheville Police Department officers Monday night. In a short hearing presided over by Judge Patricia Young, Tedesco asked for a court-appointed attorney.
Tedesco is accused of shooting Murray Wilson, 53, of Black Mountain, and Michael Ezell, 33, of Waynesville, during a meeting at Tedesco Insurance early Monday.
Both men were treated Monday at Mission Hospitals for numerous gunshot wounds. Wilson was later released. As of Monday evening, Ezell was hospitalized and in stable condition.
Sgt. Darrell Saucier with the Buncombe County Detention Facility said this morning that Tedesco was booked at 2:12 a.m. Tuesday and was being held under no bond.
If convicted, Tedesco could reach a maximum sentence of 479 months in jail, or about 40 years, for each charge.
His next court appearance will be Jan. 17.
