Hindsight is 20/20 and had I done my homework, I wouldn’t have gotten caught up in this extended warranty madness.
I was one of the lucky ones to buy a contract with Capital Assurance as the claims administrator. I have gone through numerous channels to cancel my policy and the timing of this company’s transition couldn’t have come at a worst time. I’m told my contract is in refund status but I’m not holding my breath. Lesson 1: do homework; find out if a company is legitimate and lesson 2: do not ever fork over money to a RRG company. Dealing with MEPCO, National Auto Warranty aka Dealer Services and Ultimate Warranty Corporation has been a hellish nightmare. I’ve paid out almost $3,000 on a contract that is basically worthless.

I am still waiting on a check for a tow bill that I submitted 6 weeks ago. I have been told it is in processing and usually takes 6 – 8 weeks for payment.
Today my vehicle is in the shop again and when the mechanic called for authorization to repair the vehicle he was told all monies are frozen and we would have to pay the bill and submit it for payment. Again, they didn’t know when or if we would receive a check covering the repair minus the deductible.

I feel as if I have been treated unfair and want a refund…. I still do not know for sure what is going on….. I never received anything advising me of a problem with this company.

I tried for 3 days to get an authorization to fix my vehicle. I was told that Ultimate was going through restructuring. I needed my vehicle so my mechanic fixed it and I faxed in the claim. Now they are saying it was not preauthorized and denied the claim. They tried to tell me I was trying to committ fraud. I don’t know how these people sleep at night.

I too have an “unpaid claim.” However, Utlimate Warranty (if that is still their name) advised my dealership that they “honored the claim,” however, I have to PAY it in advance, and send them the paperwork for future (won’t hold my breath) reimbursement. This is “Warranty Gold” all over again!!! (I know, I got stuck with them too!!) This goes to show you, purchase the manufacturer’s warranty…i.e., Honda, Nissan, GMC, etc., for peace of mind!!

I had a few claims where the Ultimate Warranty Corp. approved work on my vehicle, the repairs were made and then they did not pay. This happened around the same time as all of the dates that I’ve seen (Oct-Dec 07), now I’m being called by the dealership who performed the repairs, threatning me for the bill. Where is the class action lawsuit on this matter. I dont want money all I want is to be left alone from the dealership because I did’nt approve to pay the claim the Ultimate Warraty Corp did. I have cotracts for two vehicles under this company and it seems that they are not worth the paper on which they’re written.

If you bought the contract from a car dealer your recourse could be to have him or her refund the cost of the contract or pay your claim or both. Was the dealer negligent for not making sure the company they represented was financially sound or were they to busy overcharging you for a lousy product?

I would just like to know if or when we will get our refund of the money we spent out of our own pocket, for our extended warranty that we cancelled almost one year ago. I feel that if you don’t have the money to pay us back then why did you offer us this, so called great extended warranty? Even if we never see the refund in our lifetime, maybe our children will. (how is this possible you say? well it’s called a CLASS ACTION SUIT!!!!) remember you never ever get anything for free!!!!

Go back to the dealer you purchased from for service work, they will try to make things right with you if they are a good dealer. These dealers don’t want bad publicity from unhappy customers, if they are smart. It wasn’t a surprise that this company went belly up there were lots of warnings out there that most dealers made a decision to ignore. They were lured in with high commissions and promises. A lot of money was paid in spiffs to the finance salespeople working in these dealership to sell the products. Everytime they sold one a spiff was place a debit card for them. Some dealers knew some didn’t. Also dealers were promised large sums of money if they had low claims. Money was set aside in accounts, wonder where that went? It really just gets down to greed. They kept selling them knowing that the claims had been a problem the money was just too good for them to resist. Dealers do have a responsibility to sell products that they have done their due diligence on. In the state of MN, this company had a been told by the Dept of Commerce to stop doing business and continued to sell their product. That was in 2004, information easily available on the website. It’s unfortunate that dealers place their financial gain in front of their customers needs. If your dealer doesn’t make it right with you I would contact the BBB and the attorney generals office in your state. Go the web site http://www.doi.sc.org they will have information there to the status of this case. In the future, make sure that when you buy a warranty you check to see who the insurer is and their record. With the internet we have plenty of information available to us in a moment. Good luck to all of you with claims, remember that there are good warranties and good car dealers, this just happened not to be one of them.

I paid out $1600.00 for this contract only to find out when my vehicle was in need of repairs I would have to pay the repair bill of 747.00 because all monies were frozen due the company being placed into receivership. They couldn’t say when or if I would receive a refund minus my deductable. I purchased this contract thru the dealership in good faith upon the salesman advising me it was worth it and would come in handy. I recently called the dealership and was advised they would not cover the repair bill. If I would have stolen $1600.00 from their dealership or from my employer I would have been arrested with a felony conviction. This company has ripped all of us off and we should be filing charges against them. I believe the South Carolina of Insurance should be helping all of us get these repairs bills paid. I also will not purchase or recommend anyone to purchase a vehicle from this dealership due to them not standing behind a contract they sold me.

Now, I see why EXTENDED AUTO WARRANTY CORP. didn’t pay my claim on November 30, 2007, after submitting it several times. They actually refused to converse with me only saying I authorized the service. The dealership called them several times before repair only to get “we are sorry for the past several week you have experienced such a long wait….(blah blah blah). I too like the rest of you had to fork my own bill. After several attempts with them, I decided to write to Capital Assurance and of course my mail came back undeliverable. I finally decided to check out the web to see if I could get another address–so now here is where I ended up. Is there anything that can be done?

This is just yet another f’ing example of big govt. taking care of big business as they both conspire to rip off the average consumer, in a major effort to reduce this country to no more than two classes of people, those who don’t have to work for their money and those who work and still don’t make enough to live.
And they got the nerve to wonder why they got crime rates as high as they are; to me I’m surprised they aren’t higher than what they are.
The company that is [managing] these thieves that took your money, knowing full well they had no intention of ever hold up thier end of the agreement; these are the only people who are actually expecting to recieve any money from this company who stole from us.
So think about that as you go to the polls this fall.

    until…

Paid $1500.00 for an extended warranty on my 2005 Pontiac G6. It went in the shop for over $600.00 in Parking brake repairs. They did the work before the “go ahead” from the warranty company. The repair shop would not give me the car untill I paid them in full. I paid them $680.18, took the car home and Still have not recieved anything from the warranty company. This was eight months ago. I wrote to my Attorny General and he said I was screwed. What does it mean to be licenced, bonded and insured. I thought it meant that if for some reason you went into forclosure or bankruptcy, your insurance company picked up the remaining balance. I guess I’m the stupid one!!!

I bring my car to the dealership to have work done. the work is complete . and the dealership calls the warranty company. They said that the warranty companies backers Capital Assurance, had its assets frozen. So what the F..K am I suppose to do. I’m getting married in november and I really cant be shelling out a $1200.00. When all I really thought I was going to pay my deductable $100.00 and $150.00 for diagnosis which the warranty does not cover. Make sure if you get a warranty that it is a dealers warranty and has a good backer. I learned my lesson, and that is to get a factory extended warranty not a after market warranty. Also the warranty company never called me or sent a letter out saying that this was happening. So who looks like an ****%$# now. And they call you when your late on a paymen. But, when you need your car fix your up sh…its creek.

I am in the same boat as all of you are. I did go onto website http://www.capitalassurancerrg.com and print out the package on how all of this mess is suppose to work. It clearly states in there that if you cancel your warranty you will not be eligible for any reimbursement/claims or future monies from this company. I did speak with Gabrille today 5/28 @ 888-792-3495 and was told that they are now paying claims and reimbursements(you have to wait your turn). So we will see-my warranty is with Vehicle Care-I know there are several different companies that are being affected-Vehicle Care says they are now taking care of their customers-we’ll see.

We bought a 2004 Ford Free Star Van in 2005. Also puchased an extended warranty that covered bumper to bumper for 70,000 miles or so.
This car was sold by Paramount Volvo Co., Hickory, NC. About a year 1/2 later, the owner sold this dealership but remains in town; owning Paramount KIA.
Our problem is with the ABS/TRAC Control Braker System (serious business for a big vehicle). We had a repair to this brake syster a yr. later Oct.2006; wasn’t covered by warrenty.
Then Jan. 2008 we had the whole ABS/TRAC control system replaced;covered by warranty but cost us out of pocket $1596.00…..no compensation for this.
2nd time ABS system went out July 2008;dealer replaced no charge but trouble with bleeding brakes.
WAIT………Sept.10th ABS system out again …..this makes THIRD time. No charge but car is still in service shop today Sept 18th………3 Times……
Had one call from Paramount KIA in June and have heard nothing since then. No hint of re-imbursement but mentioned pro rating and canceling Extended Warranty Contract. We are still paying Sun Trust Bank our car payments, which includes the warranty amount.

I WISH SOMEONE KNEW HOW TO START A CLASS ACTION SUIT FOR ALL OF US.

This is what happened to the Stock Market.
Have you read why the warranty companies didn’t have the money to pay their claims, if not please read it online.
We are 70/71 yrs old and live on fixed income.
I wrote the website and received a reply a while back; short of hiring an attorney we cannot advise you on action.

Thanks for listening. Good Luck to all of us. Currently dealer has loaned us a rental car at small chg.

You’d think the dealership in St.Petersbrg, Florida would back their car ( not the extened warranty from National, not their fault) because it is a repeat customer and customer service is dollars in the bank later ! NO I’m on my own with these repair bills ! Now will I get interest off the money owed to me when it finally settles in court, probably not.I

I purchased from the dealer an Ultimate policy for $3075. When I tried to file a claim for repairs, I was told to pay for the repairs and Ultimate would reimburse me. The claim is still unpaid (1/2007). I called the dealer and explained what had happened and that Ultimate was in receivership. The dealer’s tried to sell me another policy for $1800. When I said no way, I was assured that the new policy was a really good one! Talk about no dealer responsibility!!

Are we just going to twist in the wind for 10 years and then be told-sorry no money for unpaid claims?

Bought the warranty with my new car and now that I need a repair I find out 4 years after this bankruptcy that I just wasted 1700 of my hard earned $ and now i have to pay for my repair 100%. Maybe we should get Obama on this matter. I want my vehicle repaired or I want my $1700 back!

My dealership told me last year that ultimate warranty informed them that they are not selling any more new contracts until the previous claims have been reimbursed.
I would look further into this, perhaps call the better business bureau.

Dec 2008 I posted here, tring to find out where my money went and why claims were NOT being paid. On June 02,2010 I received a phone call from Ultimate Warranty ! Guess what…..THEY WERE TRING TO RENEW THE POLICY WITH ME!!! After “DISCUSSING” the problems the gentleman refused to give me his name and hung up on me ! Several attempts to call back the #(1-760-465-8666) from caller ID, I only got a fax machine. How in the world is this still happening? Well I quess if they can do this to honest folks,I can repay them with giving the phone# they called me from!Have fun folks, this is on me !

I am in the state of Florida and posted my last comment on June 03,2010. Why can we “NOT” hire an attorney to represent all of us, is there a reason? They(CARRG) are still allowing the sales, and selling policies! I would think some attorney would take the case for fees!

I don’t understand how UW remains in business to sell anything to anytone; no matter what state they are doing business.
Business owners are greedy for every dollar;too bad UW doesn’t sell in CHINA?
We are waiting on 1600.00 covered repair on ABS system, paid out of pocket of course. Sooooo Useless the court System.

Joyce, I do not know , but I would assume we should be able to file a class-action on both CARGG & the underwriter, maybe the State of South Carolina, because they have allowed the sell of new polices to continue without payment on previous claims. Also the mis-management of funds !!

I purchased a warranty from Car Warranties Direct and they were backed by Capitol Assurance Insurance. They approved a claim, I paid the service station, and found I could not recover because these two companies were connected and both were in financial trouble. The number for Car Warranties Direct was then being answered by Ultimate Warranty and I see they aren’t paying claims either (how do they get away with this – who is getting paid to turn their head?). Does anyone know how an individual, or a group of us, can get these crooks to pay?
