$60 Million Sought in Mississippi Crash That Killed 2 Doctors

October 9, 2009

A lawsuit has been filed against a prominent Jackson, Mississippi couple over a head-on collision that killed two physicians.

The estates of the crash victims — Dr. Daniel Mark Pouge and his fiancee, Dr. Lisa Dedousis — seek $60 million in damages from Karen Irby and her businessman husband, Stuart Irby.

The couple died Feb. 11 when their pickup collided with a Mercedes Benz driven by Karen Irby in northeast Jackson. Stuart Irby was her passenger.

The Clarion-Ledger reports that the suit was filed in Hinds County Circuit Court, and it alleges Karen Irby’s negligence caused the fatal collision, including driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Karen Irby was indicted in May on depraved heart murder and aggravated assault in the doctors’ deaths.
