It is about time that folks were forced to improve their own situation. Not living in a flood prone area I am sick to death of having tax dollars bail folks out everytime it floods.

Tired of it all…you shouldn’t make such a hasty comment on a subject without fully understanding what you’re talking about. A lot of the structures on the water in coastal Mississippi (Moss Point) had been there for 50 plus years and only been flooded / destroyed twice, once with Hurricane Camille in 69 & once with Katrina in 05. What about the mid-west floods that happen all the time, the west coast earthquakes, what about the entire coast-line of the US, or even a tornado that destroys everything in it’s path killing hundreds. Everybody recieves federal tax dollars…who are you? Your open mouth, insert foot comment probably pisses more people off then you realize. Maybe you should concentrate your sick to death attitude toward all the tax dollars going to people who don’t contribute to our tax base.

No, I’m fully with Tired of it all. If you live in a flood plain, either elevate your structure or don’t expect flood insurance. It’s pretty simple…where I live there are many areas prone to floods, you either don’t live there, or buy a structure able to withstand a flood.

Just because you live in a 60 year old home doesn’t mean you should just keep waiting for the eventual flood to hit. Just like there are building codes for quake zones, follow the building codes here.
