Uber is a criminal enterprise. Fact that was ruled recently by several EU courts.

In US, Uber is facing RICO charges in multiple jurisdictions.

To ignore these facts, to ignore the fact that Uber’s 1MM liability
policy is basically a gimmick that never paid a penny out because
it has so many exit clauses – is irresponsible and border-line criminal.

This necessitates a closer look and an investigation.

Uber has been know to lobby and bribes local key figures to
advance its own criminal corporate agenda at the expense of
thousands of local small transportation businesses.

This madness on wheels must end.

Operate lawfully or legally like everyone else – or stop.
    No more excuses.
    No more special treatments.
No more “technology” lies and misdirection – there are hundreds
of app that do same and even better – and many of them are law-compliant.
    No more UBER!

Uber and Lyft are still illegal almost every where, no less than 22 states insurance commissioners have issued consumer advisories warning the public pf significant insurance gaps in coverage, numerous local county and state agencies have issued cease and desisit orders, vehicles have been impounded and drivers have been issued citations, and the family that was run down in San Francisco and their 6 year old daughter killed by an Uber driver have still not seen a solitary cent from James River nor Uber itself for that matter.
Uber and Lyft are commiting wholesale violations of regulations rules and laws governing the commercial for hire livery sector and they are no was ‘rideshare’ nor are they donation based, they are fee for service, a commercial enterprise and eveey one knows it.
It is time for gvt to issue arrest warrants for TNC executives and their enablers and name each and every driver as co-defendants in a class action law suit for predatory business practices as well as RICO.

I imagine this particular event will have to go through the courts since “Uber says the company is not liable for the death because the driver, Syed Muzzafar of Union City, was not carrying a passenger or actively using the app when he failed to yield to the family in a Polk Street crosswalk.”

“Florida’s insurance regulators have determined that a ridesharing company’s automobile commercial liability policy meets state regulations. . .” I don’t see how this is possible, when the Uber policy specifically does not cover personal liability. Instead, it covers just bodily liability, meaning, that if the driver and rider and critically injured, there is no coverage for their injuries.

If you personally transport friends and neighbors to the airport and they pay you do you have to have special insurance

The purpose of the Florida Guarantee Fund and qualifying as an approved and admitted insurance company is to make certain that injured citizens of the State of Florida are compensated for their injuries, medical bills and losses. A NON-ADMITTED insurance company does not guarantee that they will pay if they are insolvent. How does that = FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY?
