March 1, 2016

Georgia Insurance Commissioner Ralph Hudgens announced that in 2015 his office mediated thousands of claims disputes between Georgians and insurance companies, resulting in more than $7 million in claim settlements favorable to the consumer.

Last year the Georgia Department of Insurance worked with 11,240 consumers and businesses to retrieve approximately $7,034,418.06 from insurance companies in settlement payments. Auto liability was the coverage that produced the most complaint activity followed by those related to individual and group health insurance, life insurance and homeowner coverages.
