A federal judge has recommended that former Tennessee associate director of sports medicine Jenny Moshak and two ex-Lady Volunteers strength coaches should recover more than $460,000 in attorneys’ fees as part of the settlement in their lawsuit against the university.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Bruce Guyton issued his ruling May 18. It was first reported by the Knoxville News-Sentinel.
Moshak, Heather Mason and Collin Schlosser filed a gender discrimination and retaliation lawsuit against Tennessee in October 2012. The two sides announced in January they had reached a settlement for $750,000 plus attorneys’ fees to be determined by the court.
The plaintiffs said they received less compensation than employees holding similar positions and performing comparable tasks for men’s teams, and that the discrepancy resulted from their gender or their affiliation with women’s teams.
