Personal Responsibility isn’t the issue in this case. If the girl using snapchat sued them I would be ok with this ruling but the fact is that this was the third party suing because they were severley injured as a result of another driver using their service while driving. She probably had minimum limits on liability so the family is left out in the cold with no help financially. The only way personal responsibility will ever stop these accidents is if these idiots get thrown in jail for 1-10 years. Without severe punishment people will not stop using their phones while driving.
Money won’t bring back a child, but punishment of the offending party [despite statements to the contrary] with substantial publicity & a 10 year jail term MIGHT serve to reduce the lunacy that cell phones afford. Yeah, I know, its not the cells that kill people…but….they are the medium and when people use them recklessly and cause death to third parties, they MUST be held responsible.
Could “personal responsibility” be a thing again?? Say it isn’t so! Well done Judge Thacker.

To clarify, my use of “they” prior to MUST refers to the cell users, not the cells.
