Alliance Mourns Passing of Member Cheryl Epple

July 8, 2004

The American Agents Alliance is saddened to announce the passing of 17-year Alliance member Cheryl Ann Epple. Cheryl passed away on July 5, 2004 due to a heart attack. Along with her sisters, Nelda Rueter and Terri McCone-Williams, she ran Concepts in Business (formerly the McCone Agency), a successful tax preparation and insurance business in Bellflower.

Cheryl was born in Lynwood, California on Nov. 2, 1951. She graduated from Mayfair High School, class of 1969 and later attended Cerritos College and Cal State Dominguez Hills, where she received a B.A. in Public Administration.

She has dedicated her life to her community, serving 11 years on the Cerritos College Board of Trustees, and as past president for Soroptimists International of Artesia-Cerritos. Cheryl was also a board member of the Greater Long Beach Girl Scout Council, and the Battered Women’s Shelter of Whittier. She was active in the California State Democratic Party, anxiously anticipating the day we could have another Democratic president in office. However, Cheryl still loved her Republican friends and felt that it was their patriotic duty to vote their conscience. There was nothing more important to Cheryl than her family, yet she was always willing to bring in newcomers to be a part of that family, regardless of their political affiliation.

Cheryl is survived by her husband, Bob Epple, daughter Nicole Epple, mother, Joyce McCone, sisters, Terri (husband Steve) McCone-Williams and Nelda (husband Bruce) Rueter, brothers, Don McCone and Rob (wife Shannon) McCone and several nieces and nephews, Ashley, Samantha, Megan, Kelly, Ryan, Jon, Chris, & Renee.

The memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday July 10th, 2004 at First Baptist Church of Lakewood, 5336 Arbor Rd., Long Beach, California. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Cheryl A. Epple Memorial Scholarship at the Cerritos College Foundation by calling (562) 860-2451, ext. 2526.
