Heffernan Insurance Brokers, an independent brokerage based in San Raphael, Calif., has appointed Andre Olivan leader of its new fleet transportation practice. Olivan will work out of the company’s Walnut Creek, Calif., office. He will oversee new business development in California, as well as nationwide, for fleet business including limousine services, taxicabs, courier package delivery, airport shuttles, regional trucks and more.
Olivan has more than 20 years experience in the insurance industry, including a background in the transportation field. He began his career in transportation as a driver, and owner-operator and later entered the insurance industry. He succeeded in insurance, and became vice president at a national firm, where he helped develop a specialty transportation program before going on to open his own brokerage firm. Later this firm became second largest regional brokerage in Northern California, with clientele that included a national school bus company with more than 6,000 buses and one of the largest Pacific Northwest trucking companies.
