The Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF) has announced that California Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones will be in attendance as a special guest at the IICF Annual Benefit Dinner being held Thursday, May 19, 2011 at the Four Seasons Hotel, San Francisco.
Recently elected, Jones took the Oath of Office as California’s fourth elected Insurance Commissioner Jan. 3, 2011. He leads the California Department of Insurance and is responsible for regulating state’s insurance industry. Jones served in the California State Assembly from 2004 through 2010 prior to his election as Insurance Commissioner. During such time, Jones chaired the Assembly Health Committee, the Assembly Judicial Committee and the Budget Subcommittee on Health and Human Services.
“This marks the 18th Annual IICF Benefit Dinner. We are thankful for the industry’s support, which has allowed for the longevity and growth of this united philanthropic effort. We are excited to introduce Commissioner Jones to this unique industry movement,” said Stephen Meyer, IICF Western Division board chairman and regional vice president, northwestern region for ACE USA.
The IICF Annual Benefit Dinner provides an opportunity for insurance professionals nationwide to come together in a united philanthropic effort, raising funds for local nonprofits. Proceeds from the evening will benefit multiple nonprofit programs through the Foundation’s community grants program. To-date, the Industry Foundation has contributed more than $17 million and 140,000 volunteer service hours to hundreds of community nonprofits.
The 2011 dinner will honor Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co.’s Heritage Program for its industry leading role in the realm of philanthropy. Accepting on behalf of the program will be Fireman’s Fund President and CEO Michael LaRocco.
The St. Baldrick’s Foundation will also be recognized during the evening for its leadership in pediatric cancer research. John Bender, president of Allied World Reinsurance, is serving as chairman of the IICF Annual Benefit Dinner.
