May 9, 2011

Insuring the Children (ITC), a program of the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF), has awarded a special grant to the Children’s Bureau, meeting funding needs for Oak View Summer Day Camp, held at the Oak View Family Resource Center in Huntington Beach, Calif.

Children’s Bureau is a Southern California organization committed to providing vulnerable children the foundation necessary to become caring and productive adults through state-of-the-art child abuse prevention and treatment services.

“The Oak View Summer Day Camp has been a huge success and a very popular summer activity for our local youth. Funding for the camp is limited, so we are grateful to ITC for their generosity and commitment to helping these children have access to positive, enriching activities,” saidd Michele Essex, program manager for Children’s Bureau. “We … know that we will have some very appreciative families who will have the opportunity to attend camp this year because of ITC,” continued Essex.

Insuring the Children (ITC) is a regional Southern California program manifesting the IICF’s mission: helping communities and enriching lives through harnessing the collective strengths of the insurance industry to provide leadership, community service and grants. ITC is dedicated to raising funds and awareness to fight child abuse and neglect. Since 2006, ITC has raised more than $1 million specifically directed towards Southern California nonprofit organizations focusing on child abuse prevention and eradication. Nationally, the IICF has contributed more than $17 million and 140,000 volunteer hours to hundreds of community nonprofits.
