Is not the purpose of insurance to respond to claims covered by insurance? Perhaps a portion of all claims settlements should go toward helping those who beg on Freeway exits? Dave Jones must have other political aspirations????

Why submit a claim if you can’t collect, the companies will lose the ability to assess risk deterioration and since there is no benefit to the insured, they would be less inclined to cooperate in settling a claim.

In fact, why buy insurance if you can’t collect on a claim?

Personally, I think this is a great idea. Deadbeat Dads (and Moms) should have any insurance award reduced by the outstanding support payment due.

Logistically, I think it will be a nightmare to administer. There will be increased expenses for the insurance company to first determine if the claimant (actually, EVERY claimant) is on the deadbeat list. This may delay payments to the rest of the population. insurance companies should be immune if erroneous info is provided to them and they inadvertantly give money when they shouldn’t have.

I have no problem with children receiving their support.
Does this law only apply to injury claims? If the claimants car is damaged does it just stay damaged and the person potentially drives an unsafe car?

Children don’t receive child support, mothers/parents/government do. To that degree, Child Support should be abolished. If you say otherwise or favor child-support, you don’t understand the system and have not been privy to the outright destruction it has created for most children and families. This bill would only open a new gateway by which government can extract funds from Americans (mostly men) all in the name of supporting ‘family’. It’s Rubbish. 50/50 visitation/medical/education. Period. Parent one takes care of kids when they are with them, parent two the same. Government should step-away, diffuse and disassemble all child support enforcement. Not create more methods by which to extract funds. The reason they don’t; it’s big business and there is much money in it. So tell mom and dad not to fool with Life Insurance and leaving family savings…if you can extract insurance settlements, life insurance received from a death claim would likely count. Thus, through osmosis, a parent (mostly women) will eventually have the right to extract a % from all financial resources regardless if delinquent payments of support exist or not. So make all you want, They’ll take all you get. Regardless of venue. It’s robbery cloaked in satirical bureaucracy.
