It is a discrase that a sentence of probation and a pipple fine along with community service is considered punishment!

What is our legal system doing to deter this type of crime? It appears little or nothing!

The monetary fine probably did not even equal the money he scammed from clients and probation is not even a slap on the wrist. This sends out a signal that it is worth the risk of getting caught, since you can pocket thousands in premium and broker fees and maybe use one policy-changing the name, and/or issue certificates representative of a policy and most clients will be unaware of the scam. Gives me the feeling that a license to sell insurance is not worth the paper it is written on…he should have received prison time for the act itself not the relatively small amount of money and/or policies involved. It is the principle of the offense that should be considered.

I agree with Jack. Insurance Journal prints many of these stories about stealing premiums and falsifying Certs. The crook rarely gets jail time. I wonder if the punishment would have been harsher if the fake Liability policy had a $1 million dollar claim arise? The law officials should look differently upon these criminals and punish them more severely.

Jack, apparently, California does not have Ethics training as part of their licensing or offer CE classes to keep a license. I wonder if this Muslim demanded Sharia law for his punishment. It is not wrong to defraud infidels.

CA certainly does have required ethics CE. The criminal knowingly disregarded it, just as he did the other laws he chose to flaunt. Deport him.

As SOON as I saw the name, I immediately clicked on the comments, found “Agent” and knew I would see a racist comment.

        Thank you for being predictable!!

Now about the ethics course….YOU are in desperate need.

This is yet another case of criminal justice’s fashionable lenience. And with it, another chunk knocked away from our society’s ethical foundation. Tolerance for illegal acts reduces our incarceration rates to the delight of the Social Justice activists (and criminals themselves), but only increases crime frequency and severity against law-abiding people.

No tolerance for crime works. Fewer people will cross the line into crime if they fear the punishment.

I had a commercial producer working for me that stole thousands of dollars in premium, AND told the very large commercial client that they had to pay the commission up front for the WC policy. He is now in jail for 3 years but I’m sure will be out in a year. It was discovered he had a prior for stealing from the goverment yet was issued a California insurance license!

I agree with the comments about the leniency of the punishment, but I do have to wonder about consumers who buy insurance from a business called “Five Star Insurance Agency and Convenience Store.” I laughed out loud at that one. But maybe it is nice to pick up a gallon of milk, a quart of Bud, some cigs and my insurance policy.
