Validus Holdings Ltd. has named Gary Tiepelman senior vice president of Western World Insurance Co.
The appointment is effective Nov. 16.
Tiepelman will open and manage Western World’s Scottsdale, Ariz. office, writing on behalf of Western World, and will commence writing business in January 2016. He will be responsible for assembling an underwriting team for the office, and will be working primarily with Tim Hochkeppel, senior vice president of underwriting and marketing in the contract division.
Tiepelman has more than 30 years of underwriting experience in the excess and surplus lines industry. Prior to Western World he was senior vice president of underwriting and marketing at Scottsdale Insurance Co. Before that he held various management positions with Great Southwest Fire Insurance and Acceptance Insurance.
Western World its subsidiaries is a specialty U.S. commercial insurer offering products on a surplus lines and admitted basis. Western World’s three operating companies are domiciled in New Hampshire and are headquartered in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey. Validus Holdings is a holding company for reinsurance and insurance operating companies and investment advisors. Western World is one of its holdings.
