Zenith to Provide Workers’ Comp for California Mutual Water Companies

May 16, 2016

Zenith Insurance Co. will serve as the workers’ compensation reinsurer and service provider for the California water system and water-related entities program recently formed by Alteris Insurance Services, Inc. and the California Association of Mutual Water Companies (CalMutuals).

CalMutuals JPRIMA was established to serve the insurance needs of non-profit water systems and other water-related entities in response to the California’s legislature passage of AB 656 in September 2015. The Association provides its members with access to customized insurance options as well as technical support, regulatory compliance and advisory services.

Workers’ compensation coverage will be distributed through both Alteris’ and Zenith’s networks of insurance agents and brokers. Alteris will serve as the Insurance Administrator in order to facilitate the delivery of the workers’ compensation product to JPRIMA non-profit water systems and water-related entities located in California.

Key workers’ compensation class codes covered under CalMutuals JPRIMA will include waterworks, irrigation drainage or reclamation and sanitary operations. Secondary class codes include sewer construction, water mains or connection construction, excavation, irrigation pipe installation and concrete construction.

Zenith is an indirect, wholly-owned subsidiary of Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited and is a specialist in workers’ compensation.

Alteris is a member of Argo Group International Holdings, Ltd., and operates as a full-service managing general agency providing products and services to brokers and clients throughout the United States.
