The day we embrace race as an underwriting criteria will be the tipping point of the deconstruction of this industry’s credibility. Logically, it would pave the way to redlining (zip code use underwriting) because relining is a cheap surrogate for racial underwriting.

We’re already crossed lines with worthless “selfies”, unfairly discriminating personal purchase records and highly questionable elements of credit history. This trend has got to be called out and taken down now by those who care about the future of the life industry.

Such a brilliantly informative article. Some very valid pointers mentioned here, especially about “credit score not being a proxy for race, income, and religion”.
