If doctors must carry their own malpractice insurance, cops must carry their own malpractice insurance. If a bad cop continues to break the law while on duty, his premiums go up. When the bad cop is no longer insurable, the bad cop can no longer be a cop. This is the only way that cops can be made personally liable for any illegal transgressions they commit under the color of authority.
With every Tom, Dick and Harry cop breaking laws and violating rights for fun and profit, why even have cops to begin with? The Blue Mafia is no different than any other organized crime syndicate ever conceived, however, at least the mafioso and drug cartels don’t try to convince us that their presence is somehow in our best interests.
That would be fine for you or me who probably never had to call a cop, but elderly, children, and women may feel different. My attitude is the cops need to call me for help.
