CDI investigators served a search warrant at the resident of Ralph Kindred, 39, of Sacramento, and arrested him on three felony counts of insurance fraud and one count of filing a false police report. Kindred was booked into the Sacramento County Jail, and bail was set for $5,000. The Sacramento District Attorney’s Office is prosecuting the case.
According to investigators, Kindred reported a burglary to the Sacramento Police Department on Oct. 30, 2000. Kindred then made a claim for stolen items to State Farm Insurance Company. State Farm paid Kindred $31,800.54 for costs associated with the burglary.
After the claim was paid, Kindred’s ex-wife and ex-girlfriend came forward independently and said the burglary was staged and items had not been stolen. Kindred’s ex-wife admitted causing damage to the home during a domestic dispute. Kindred later used that damage as the basis for the burglary claim.
