CDI investigators arrested Chester Green of Modesto, Calif., on four felony counts of insurance fraud. Green, 36, was arrested at his business and booked into the San Joaquin County Jail. Bail was set for $5,000. The Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office is prosecuting the case.
According to investigators, Green fraudulently misrepresented information he provided to his treating physicians during a claim filed for workers’ compensation benefits. Green had alleged that he injured his lower back while unloading boxes of lettuce while employed for Carl’s Jr. Restaurants. During the processing of the claim by Travelers Insurance Company, Green, who had an extensive history of work-related lower back injuries, denied these prior injuries to four physicians he saw throughout the claim period.
Subsequent interviews conducted with the physicians revealed that had they known about Green’s prior back injuries, they would have reported differently to Travelers Insurance Company, which would have had an effect on Green’s entitled benefits.
As a result of the alleged fraudulent claim, Travelers Insurance Company paid $88,576.
