I received a $125,000 book of mobile home insurance in my divorce 2 years ago. I receive a residual check each month. My checks have averaged $30,000 a year. The company that insures the homes does all the paper work. They send notices, etc. Is there an easy way for me to know what my book of business is worth? I’m thinking about selling it. They are making me an offer this week. I live in Texas.

I’ve owned an employee benefit firm for the last 25 years. My book generates over $600k in annual commissions. My client base average years as my client is 15 years. I’m looking to work with another agent and have him buy my book in five years. What percentage of the value of my book should I sell it for? I’m told 1.5% to 3% of value. Any suggestions?
    Thanks
