Workers’ Comp: Middle Market
Nuts & Bolts: Workers’ compensation for middle market and loss-sensitive plans, with broad risk appetite, is being offered by PointSure Insurance Services. Premiums are in excess of $130,000 with guaranteed cost and loss-sensitive plans. Experience modification factors are .80 or higher. Underwriters will look at 80 percent of all class codes.

Classes include: Marine construction, native corporations, offshore oilfield service contractors, oil rig fabricators, seafood processors in Alaska, ship builders, ship repair, land-based specialty contractors, stevedoring, terminal operators and yacht builders.

Dollars: Limits $1 million. Minimum premium $75,000.
States: Alaska and Hawaii.

Community Development Program
Nuts & Bolts: Gales Creek Insurance Services, Inc. (GCIS) announced that it is offering its Community Development Corporation (CDC) program to insurance agents and brokers nationally, for the first time. The GCIS policy includes: Tax credit projects; automatic cover ‘for profit’ subsidiaries; two-year rate guarantee; defense costs outside limits; automatic coverage for volunteers, trustees, committee members; employment-related practices liability including sexual harassment, discrimination and wrongful termination; defense of third party employment-related practices claims; amended BI/PD exclusion to create coverage for mental and emotional distress; outside directorship coverage; defense costs incurred by insuring contesting a claim for taxes/fines under IRS code; full prior acts and libel and slander coverage. For consideration in the program, CDCs must be affiliated with one of the national organizations who work in the field or receive funding from them such as Enterprise, National Association of Com-munity Action Agencies, Essex, etc. or be a member of their state CDC trade association.

Dollars: $1-$2 million; higher limits only with underwriting approval.
Carrier: Rated “A” by A.M. Best. Admitted and non-admitted.
States: All.

Commercial Marine
Nuts & Bolts: Commercial marine, including world-wide ocean cargo, cargo legal liability, hull and P&I, and vessel builder’s risk is available from PointSure Insurance Services. Policies are available for all types of cargos worldwide, including tug, barge, supply and utility boats.

Dollars:Unlimited. Minimum deductible is $1,000.
Carrier: Two carriers available. Both rated “A” XV by A.M. Best.
States: All except Alaska.
