Tonya I. Sylvester has been named a sales executive at Rogers & Gray Insurance Agency Inc. of Massachusetts.

Sylvester will specialize in personal lines sales, and work out of the agency’s Canton and Plymouth offices. She brings to Rogers & Gray 14 years of insurance experience and is knowledgeable in personal lines insurance underwriting, sales and service. She worked previously with Bunker Hill Insurance Co, Quincy Mutual Insurance Co., Marsh & McClennan and A. E. Barnes Insurance Agency.

Giant commercial property insurer FM Global has made several promotions and reassignments within its senior management team that are to become effective Jan. 1, 2009. The management team will be based in the company’s corporate offices in Johnston, Rhode Island.

Brian J. Hurley, executive vice president of FM Global’s North and South America operations since 1989, will retire after a 38-year career with the company.

Ruud H. Bosman, executive vice president at FM Global since 1991, will become vice chairman, a newly created position within the company. Bosman has worked at FM Global since 1971.

Jonathan W. Hall, senior vice president of FM Global’s underwriting and reinsurance division, will become an executive vice president. Hall will oversee various divisions within the company including underwriting and reinsurance, engineering and research, claims, as well as marketing and training. He joined the company in 1980.

Thomas A. Lawson, senior vice president of FM Global’s engineering and research division since 2001, also will become an executive vice president. Lawson will oversee FM Global’s North and South America insurance operations. Lawson has been employed by the company since 1979.

Carol G. Barton, senior vice president of FM Global’s commercial lines division since 2001, will become senior vice president of underwriting and reinsurance. She joined FM Global in 1973.

Brion E. Callori, vice president and operations manager of FM Global’s New York operations, will become senior vice president of engineering and research. He has worked at FM Global since 1979.

Michael C. Lebovitz, vice president and manager of FM Global business unit Affiliated FM since 2001, will become senior vice president and division manager of Affiliated FM. He joined the organization in 1985.

Terry Hogan has joined Lockton Cos. in Washington, D.C. as vice president. A Boston native and longtime D.C. resident, Hogan brings to Lockton a long track record of business development and relationship management with both mid-market and Fortune 500 companies. At Lockton, he will coordinate the industry and technical resources of the firm to develop and execute property and casualty insurance, risk management and employee benefits strategies for his client companies.

Prior to Lockton, Hogan was managing director and market area sales leader for Aon’s Mid-Atlantic Region.

The New York Young Insurance Professionals, an affiliate of the Professional Insurance Agents of New York trade group, elected new officers at its annual business meeting earlier this month. Those new officers are:

President Amy Bryan, owner of Bryan Insurance Agency in New Windsor, N.Y.

Vice President Michael Plafker, commercial lines customer service representative for Member Brokerage Service in Briarwood, N.Y.

Vice President Bobbie Rispoli, marketing representative for Premium Financial Specialist in Albany, N.Y.

Treasurer George Hackney, underwriter for Jimcor Agencies in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

Secretary Carl Abramson, marketing representative for Associated Mutual Insurance Cooperative in Woodridge, N.Y.

In addition, NY-YIP elected the following people for one-year terms on the board of directors: Carl Abramson; Jason Bartow of Eugene A. Bartow Insurance Agency in Deer Park, N.Y.; Jennifer Berger of D.C. White Agency in Long Beach, N.Y.; Amy Bryan of Bryan Insurance Agency in New Windsor, N.Y.; Jonathan Carroll, of National Insurance Brokerage of New York Inc. in Islandia, N.Y.; Gino Orrino of Orrino Capital Services in Corona, N.Y.; Shawn Kain, of Utica First Insurance Co. in Utica, N.Y., and Michael Plafker, of Member Brokerage Service in Briarwood, N.Y.

Directors elected to two-year terms were Dennis D’Amico of Sprint Insurance Agency Inc. in Staten Island, N.Y.; George Hackney; David Lande of Century Coverage Corp. Valley Stream, N.Y.; Joseph Leff of Magna Carta Companies in New York City; and Bobbie Rispoli.

John McGovern and Paul Duggan have joined National E&S Insurance Brokers Inc., a specialty wholesale environmental insurance broker based in Palmdale, Calif. Both McGovern and Duggan have extensive experience in selling and marketing environmental risks of all types.

McGovern will be based in the company’s New Jersey branch and will serve as president of the firm. Duggan will serve as executive vice president of the firm and will be based in the company’s Michigan branch office.

McGovern most recently served as managing director of American Risk Management Resources Network. Prior to that, he worked at USI-Environmental Risk Mitigation Group as director-Northeast Region. He also worked at Aon Risk Services, Stewart Smith Environmental Specialists, Willis Corroon of New York, Marsh & Mc Lennan Inc. and Royal Globe Insurance Co. He will concentrate on serving retail agents in the Northeast and the Southeast regions.

Duggan most recently served as senior vice president of American Risk Management Network. Prior to that, he was with Aon Risk Services. He also worked at Willis Corroon, Alexander & Alexander and Wausau Insurance Co.
