Marsh & McLennan Cos. appointed Daniel S. Glaser to the newly created position of group president and chief operating officer. Glaser previously had been chairman and CEO of Marsh. He will continue to report to Brian Duperreault, president and CEO of Marsh & McLennan Cos.

Peter Zaffino was named president and CEO of Marsh Inc. Zaffino previously was president and CEO of Guy Carpenter.

Alexander Moczarski was appointed president and CEO of Guy Carpenter. He had been president of the international division of Marsh Inc. Moczarski has more than 30 years of experience in the insurance industry.

Wholesale Trading Co-Op Insurance Services LLC named wholesale brokerage industry veteran David Bamford vice president/casualty broker.

Bamford joins WTCI from Santa Maria & Co., where he specialized in retail property and casualty risk analysis for small to midsize companies. Prior to his tenure as a retailer, Bamford held wholesale casualty positions at Tri-City Brokerage and Heath Insurance Brokers. Across his 20 year career, he has developed expertise in the hospitality, real estate, manufacturing and construction sectors.

Wells Publishing Inc., publisher of Insurance Journal, Claims Journal and MyNewMarkets.com, named Denise Johnson associate editor of Claims Journal.

Johnson’s background includes serving as a senior claims examiner, field claims representative and a claims adjuster at Nautilus a Insurance Co., Continental Western Group, Indiana Insurance and Wausau Insurance. Johnson also has written for numerous Web and print publications, including Frontier Airlines’ in-flight magazine and Verdict Search, as well as for trade associations and nonprofit organizations. She has a bachelor’s of science in criminal justice, as well as an associate in claims and an associate in surplus lines designations.

Claims Journal is a property/casualty claims news Web site and daily digital newsletter for claims adjusters and other related professionals.

Heffernan Insurance Brokers hired Ed Nokes to lead its Orange, Calif., office. As senior vice president and branch manager of the insurance brokerage’s Orange operations, he will be responsible for developing new business in Southern California.

Nokes previously worked for Willis as a divisional chief financial officer and later became chief operating officer for the Western United States. In 2005, he started ABD Insurance Property & Casualty in San Diego. Nokes also was previously western regional sales director at Venbrook Group.

IMA Benefits, the benefits practice for retail insurance broker IMA Inc., announced that Tracy McConnell and John Kirke were promoted to director of health innovation. Additionally, Dale Curtis was promoted to director of voluntary benefits and ERISA compliance. Cathy Sims, vice president of employee benefits in IMA’s Denver office, was elevated to also serve as vice president of benefits for IMA’s Dallas office as IMA Benefits concentrates its focus on employee benefits in Texas.

McConnell joined IMA in 2008 as a benefits practice leader. He brings 19 years of health and welfare experience, having served as both an underwriter and benefits consultant.

Kirke joined IMA in 2006 as a senior consultant in integrated healthcare and benefits management. He brings 20 years of insurance experience with an emphasis in healthcare risks and employee benefits.

Curtis joined IMA in 2004 in a business development role. He coordinated client services for several nonprofit organizations, financial institutions, manufacturers, physician groups, retail and hospitality clients.

Sims joined IMA in 2004 and has overall responsibility for IMA Benefits in Denver and Dallas. In recent months, she has given numerous presentations on the topic of health care reform and strategies related to the quickly changing employee benefits landscape.
