A joint meeting of the Los Angeles Chapter of the CPCU and Southern California Marine Underwriters’ Association (MUA) was held on Feb. 13 in downtown Los Angeles at the Floor Fifty Restaurant. Featured speaker was William C. Clark, president of Warehouse Insurance Management Co., a specialist in warehouse liability insurance.
LA CPCU Chapter president Sharon Heard, Farmers Insurance, and MUA president Karl Pedersen presided jointly over the meeting. MUA vice president Sherry Wright, Atlantic Mutual Companies, introduced Clark.
Clark pointed out the importance of risk management and logistics, which includes site management, transit, storage and liability exposures for warehouses. Today’s warehouses, in addition to storing goods, may also package, label and ship goods. Under the Warehouse Liability Policy, the warehouse owner is covered only for the negligent acts which can be misunderstood by insureds and their cusotmers. Clark concluded by stresssing the importance and need for continual education of warehouse liability coverage.
Clark participated in the drawing for door prizes, coordinated by LA CPCU Chapter Good Works chairman, Bob Bennett. LA CPCU president Sharon Heard adjourned the meeting.
