N.Y. Allstate Employee Arrested For Grand Larceny

June 12, 2000

A Rochester, N.Y. woman has been arrested on second degree grand larceny charges as a result of a joint investigation by the state’s insurance department Frauds Bureau, Allstate Insurance and the Irondequoit Police Department. Marcia Seeley pleaded not guilty to the charges, which allege that, from March 1996 to October 1998, she diverted customer premium money totaling more than $180,000 from the premium accounts to an operating account while employed as an Allstate Insurance Agent.

Seeley is accused of pocketing the money for personal use. The theft was detected after an audit by Allstate revealed that premium funds failed to appear in the bank accounts. If convicted, Seeley faces up to 15 years in prison.
