Insurance Commissioner Diane Koken today announced that enforcement actions taken against agents and companies licensed to conduct business in Pennsylvania are now available on the state’s web site at www.state.pa.us or directly at www.insurance.state.pa.us. “We protect consumers through consistent, vigilant enforcement of Pennsylvania’s insurance regulations,” said Commissioner Diane Koken.
In the first quarter of this year, the department fined companies and agents $732,000 and recovered $37 million in restitution. The insurance department web site, launched in June 1999, has averaged more than 400,000 hits per month.
Consumers and industry professionals who visit the site can get information about life, health, homeowner’s, flood and Medicare-supplement insurance; see comparative auto-insurance premium rates listed by county; review department press releases; read the Administrative Hearings office docket for a schedule of upcoming hearings; find companies licensed to do business in Pennsylvania, including their addresses and phone numbers; and learn more about the Children’s Health Insurance Program.
