ING DIRECT, the U.S. banking subsidiary of the Dutch financial and insurance giant ING Group, has opened a Banking/Café facility in Philadelphia, hoping to combine a Starbuck’s atmosphere while making its banking services more available to Philly residents.
The café at the corner of 17th and Walnut Streets, is the second the company has opened in the U.S. The first one in new York has already welcomed over 20,000 people since its opening six months ago, said the company.
The federally chartered bank which is insured by the FDIC, offers savings accounts, CD’s and low-interest loans which can be obtained on-line, by phone or mail, and now offers a cup of coffee or other beverages to potential customers.
