Selective Makes Executive Appointments

Gregory E. Murphy, Selective Insurance Group, Inc. chairman, president and CEO announced the following executive appointments:

Michael H. Lanza (Brookline, Mass.), to senior vice president, general counsel. Lanza joined Selective in July 2004 with extensive securities, compliance and insurance experience. Recently a corporate advisor and consultant, he previously served as executive vice president and corporate secretary of QuadraMed Corporation, a health care information technology company in San Rafael, California. Prior to QuadraMed, Lanza was an Assistant General Counsel at CIGNA Corporation, where his responsibilities included state government affairs,
health care compliance and international matters.

James McLain (Allentown, Pa.), to senior vice president, chief claims and personal lines officer. McLain was formerly senior vice president, claims, Selective Insurance Company of America. In his new role, he has oversight for Selective’s claims and personal lines operations, as well as the company’s underwriting and claims service centers. McLain joined Selective in November 1996 as vice president and branch manager of Selective’s Pennsylvania Region. He was later named vice president and branch manager of the Northern New Jersey office. Prior to joining Selective, McLain was a regional claims manager with
Travelers/Aetna.

Charles A. Musilli (Wantage, N.J.), to senior vice president, chief field
operations and marketing officer. Musilli was formerly senior vice
president, Selective Risk Managers (SRM), Reinsurance and Risk Management for Selective Insurance Company of America. In addition to his previous responsibilities, he now has oversight for Selective’s six regional offices, and agency relationships and marketing. Musilli joined Selective in 1981 as an insurance trainee and became one of the youngest underwriting supervisors in the company.

Eduard J. Pulkstenis (Lafayette, N.J.), to senior vice president, chief
commercial lines underwriting officer. Pulkstenis was formerly vice
president of the small commercial business unit. In his new role, he has oversight for the company’s commercial strategic business units. Pulkstenis joined Selective’s actuarial department in 1988 and in 2000
became vice president and manager of the company’s actuarial pricing unit. He assumed leadership for the commercial lines small business unit in 2003

Nancy A. DeRiso (Hope Township, N.J.), to vice president, director of
internal audit. DeRiso joined Selective in 1992 as supervisor of
internal audit and has held a number of positions within the accounting
department, most recently as director of financial accounting.

Jeffrey F. Kamrowski (Warwick, NY), to vice president, Selective Insurance Group, Inc., and senior vice president, business services unit and agency accounts. Kamrowski was formerly senior vice president, business services unit. In his new role, he adds management of the agency accounts department to his existing responsibility for Selective’s business services unit that oversees implementation of company-wide automation projects. Kamrowski joined Selective in 1988 as a programmer analyst.

Selective Insurance Group, Inc., headquartered in Branchville, New Jersey, is a holding company for six property and casualty insurance companies that offer primary and alternative market insurance for commercial and personal risks. The insurance companies are rated “A+” (Superior) by A.M. Best.
