    Great idea, I would love to see this become a law throughout the US.

    Yes the whole US should enact this legislation. It would be very easy for the insurance companies to download to each state computer those who have lapsed. Many states already do this and have added to the TAX coffers of their state.

    Does anyone know which states actively track insurance maintenance (ie, receive feeds from carriers notifying if and when coverage is dropped or resumed)?

    Lately are doctors have treated several patients that have been the driver in a motor vehicle collision that do not have auto insurance but DO have State Medicaid. We are told that we MUST bill the Medicaid – so as taxpayers we are penalized twice. Uninsured motorist premiums increase AND it is coming out our paychecks because we are stupid enough to be employed.
