I am very confused about the new law as every article I have read in various newspapers says that the new law requires children to be both at least 7 years old and over 60 pounds to be exempt from using a booster seat. However, looking at the actual statute, it appears to me that the requirement is 6 years old and over 60 pounds. My reading of the statute leads me to believe that all children, no matter what their age, under 60 pounds, must be in a booster seat. However, the age ambiguity concerns me and I’d like to know the reason for this.
