How do you say you take insurance fraud seriously when he doesn’t get any jail time? He should serve some real time. The fire not only could have injured someone but his intent was theft.
AMEN to the previous comment about no jail time. He was given a lite sentence only because he was a law officer. If it had been anyone else, they would have gotten jail time.
what?! can i join the club – be a politician or hold a public office and get better treatman than the regular joe?! i think we forget what it means to be found GUILTY! i can possibly putting him into a separate jail facility due to him having been a sheriff. but home? where’s the bars? or the grubby food? do we put a big sign on his front lawn and say – he within this house lies a liar whom attempted to fraud the insurance and your hard earned money.
This is another example of a bullshi t plea deal made by some scumbag judge. HE’s the one who should go to jail or be thrown off the bench. Things like this make a mockery of the justice system. I agree with everyone this guy should have served time. The fact that he was a law enforcement officer makes the crime even more deserving of jail time. He basicall spit in the face of the legal system he swore to uphold.

Since he got off so lightly, any arsonist in MD should receive the same sentence, don’t you think?
